First prenatal appointment

Mar 12, 2008 21:31

I know I've sucked at updating. I swear I've had the energy of a narcoleptic sloth. NEEDS. MOAR. SLEEP. But I really do want to chronicle things like this, so I'll prop my eyelids open and get it written.

Oh, and for those who want to know but don't want the sticky details, it's official: there really is only one this time. :p

I'm glad things went well for you and so happy that you've found a caregiver that is so willing to listen to you!!

I will definately be praying that you get your VBAC. I know how horrible your c/s experience was and wouldn't want you to have to re-live that.

Good for you for going for the VBAC. It's not the way I'm going to go, but I really admore women who go for it.

I'm really looking forward to our first OB apppointment- you've totally just fed my excitement.

Yay! I'm glad it's only one too, that gives me hope, lol.

Yeah, think about doing the shots. They're not so bad. I don't really know exactly what or how much they helped, but I do know that I only went into labor after I was was done doing them. (Well, I didn't deliver until after I stopped doing them. I guess I was technically in labor for half of my pregnancy, lol.) In retrospect, I don't know why they stopped them at 34 weeks, I think they said 36 originally. Maybe they just wanted to put me out of my misery. heh.

Oh beth, I'm so excited for you on so many levels. First of all, a singleton is GREAT! Second, I'm so happy you found a good doctor - one who will hear your requests with an open mind. And I'm really glad you aren't as sick as you were last time. I think that's one of my biggest fears about having #2... soooo not looking forward to being sick again.

What are the progesterone shots for?

You can totally have a VBAC. And it's great that your doctor is supportive.

Progesterone shots cut early labor by more than 50%. They're the way to go for moms with a history of early labor. Except... since I was carrying twins last time, I had a darn good reason to be in early labor, so my doc isn't sure how necessary they are. The good news is that there aren't any side effects for the baby - the downside is just, well, having to stick a needle in myself every day. :S

It's hardly a definite that we would go that route, but she wanted to let me know that option was available if I was afraid early labor would be a problem again.
