Finally getting a day off here and there to catch up with life (although not quite the break I was hoping for, since my volunteer coordinator resigned so taking over a lot of her duties and starting the hiring process all over again, hurrrg). Things accomplished: kitchen cleaned, carpet shampooed, laundry, grocery, and outside opossums cleaned out ( Read more... )

Aw, great wildlife and cute kitty photos, thanks for sharing 'em. The cats really look like they love the outdoor playpen.

You're welcome! The kitties really do like their outside time, although they much prefer it if I'm in the pen WITH them - if I'm not hanging out they start meowing to go in after an hour or so.

I love the glimpses into the wild world I get from these pics. I don't think I'd ever recognise baby squirrels and opossums if it wasn't for your sage wisdom ;)

I love the caterpillars too - they look so much more solid and less hairy than the ones we get over here.

Baby squirrels and opossums are not something one generally encounters around here, either, unless you happen to be the only person in a six county area who rescues them - they kinda get funneled my way, lol (and even then most folks make an average of eight phone calls to get to me).

Monarch caterpillars are just marvelous - they feel so soft and silky ^^

Yaaay getting stuff done!
Boo hiring again!
Oooo monarchs! 8D
Awww little grubses! Huh, their heads are rather different, too. Possums don't have a "stop" to speak of. Carrot!
Turtles!
Pollywogs! (Which one's Roddy?)
Birthday card LOL!!!
Pond eyes so pretty!!!
Lovely Miss Bones!
Catio! That's awesome! I've contemplated that. Never gotten even within the vicinity of actually doing anything about deciding what to build/buy. And not sure which if any cats would spend time out there. Sprocket and Mushi might... Awww, such handsome dudes. :D

Things have been crossed off the list! However, have acquired a second baby squirrel and a stray doggie from the park, so the task completing has ground to a screeching halt, lol.

The administrative shenanigans just keep coming, alas, and my cope is starting to fail. I am...seriously considering looking for a new job :(

Baby opossums and baby squirrels look wildly different to me (prehensile tail! Opposable thumbs! Mouths sealed up along the sides!) but if it's your first encounter with pinkie wildlife babies, confusion entirely understandable! I usually end up with at least one or two "opossums" that are actually squirrels every year.

Roddypole is the one tail-diving off the lily pad on the lower left :P

It's been a real life-saver for Toast - he dearly wants to go outside, and I used to have to watch every second to keep him from darting out the doors and threaten him with squirt guns, but now as long as he gets a bit of recess in the catpen, he's perfectly content ^_^

I set up the pen in spring, so haven't had a chance to use it with snow yet. If I remember right, I let him out on the porch this winter and he took a few steps and then realized THE UNIVERSE HAD GONE INSANE and yowled to come back inside XD
