Dated January 3, 2009: Josh realizes Sam is gone. He searches the island, goes for a walk, and comes back a somewhat more centered man, and this time without catching pneumonia. Then, he grows some balls, and moves out of the compound after three years on the island, and into Sam’s hut.

When Sam had found Josh sitting and staring out at the ocean, he hadn't asked Josh to come back so much as he told him. Josh had been to the hutwarming party, so finding his way back there wasn't that hard. He roamed vaguely, still somewhat in shock after his run-in with Sam and Donald in the rec room. Josh had coaxed a somewhat recent (2001 was pretty good, considering some of ones he got were from the 50's), relatively reliable newspaper out of the bookshelf (New York Times, hot damn), and he'd felt like a little sunshine, so he shuffled off to the beach.
