Since maybe Sunday I've been working on a big stuffed spider. Actually, my intent was to make three giant spiders, but since I don't have a sewing machine it took a really long time. Was a day early for a meeting today. Woops. Since I was already at campus, I went over to my favorite spot, the cactus garden, and stalked hummingbirds and cacti for an hour. The latter being easier to photograph.

Last weekend C and I went camping in Lassen Volcanic National Park with some of the girls from the hiking group and their husbands.

I haven't been anywhere with such strikingly diverse landscapes.

We woke up early and were greeted by a family of chipmunks (my first time to see a chipmunk!!!)

The last few weeks have been a bit crazy, but things have finally settled down. We went to several nice places with my mom and cousin while they were here. Then we kept the rental car for a couple extra days. We went to the coast one day, then to Muir Woods to see the coastal redwoods another. This is going to be hard for me to type. I can hardly move my fingers I'm so sated and sleepy from dinner. I tried to recreate a slow cooked pork dish I had at C's colleagues house a couple of years ago.
