evening light

Jan 28, 2007 12:50

Friday evening I was driving along the freeway. Ahead of me, the sunlight angling in from low in the west was bathing everything in that beautiful, rich light that time of evening can bring. I was enjoying watching the play of light on the hills, and even on the cars on the freeway ahead of me. And then I came out from behind the sound wall, and ( Read more... )

drinking my cup of Chai and looking out at my porch this morning. the tree i was staring at suddenly became lit up with sunlight. the whole view was like someone slowly increasing the light on a photograph. it got so bright at one point, i almost had to squint. i'm happy that the sun will soon be making its return.

I love watching changes in light like that. Seeing something suddenly lit by the sun always seems magical to me.

Kayaking with dolphins. And diving pelicans.

And just this evening, alone on beautiful still waters as the sun set.

Pelly-cans!

I love pelicans. They feel prehistoric, to me. I especially love watching them fly in formation, low across the water.

Besides the sparkle of connection in the eyes of writer-coach-boy? :) The mushrooms that sprouted near my apartment shortly before Friday's rainfall. A cup of hot chocolate made with so much care that it was more like a work of art (a tasty, tasty work of art) than a beverage. The fog rolling down the hills so fast I could actually see its progress.

Mmmmm, the fog rolling in. That's something I miss about living in Santa Cruz/Mountain View, getting to see the fog come in across the bay, or crest over the SC mountains, and start spilling down the other side.

Ghetto booty- a pair of tightly packed jeans, enveloping a shapely shapey-shape.

A rare sight, this is, in the land of the buttless.

Venus in the night sky.

My children's beautiful smiles. Their smiles are always beautiful, but I don't always take the time to appreciate them.

Crystallized clusters of snowflakes that Ian pointed out to me in the parking lot in front of church this morning.

My husband's calm, relaxed, happy face after getting a day in the frigid mountains to try winter fly fishing. (Surprise, the fish weren't biting. ;.)
