My shiny new laptop is almost all setup properly. Have been playing with it for two days now.

Luckily it came with 3 months free dialup access, or I'd still be deciding between ISPs. Not a total frivolity, needed net access to register bloody M$Word (will get back onto those corrections any second now) and also to get netbank access and email,
