My first ever post from Home.

My shiny new laptop is almost all setup properly. Have been playing with it for two days now.

Luckily it came with 3 months free dialup access, or I'd still be deciding between ISPs. Not a total frivolity, needed net access to register bloody M$Word (will get back onto those corrections any second now) and also to get netbank access and email, plus download Acrobat and pdf converter. Does anyone know of an open source reference manager which can import Endnote files?

This morning I setup my new printer/scanner/copier (only $99!) - woo! Haven't tried the copy function, but it prints and scans just fine. Scanned a few photos, must go through hardcopy archives and decide on what should live on in cyberspace for eternity.

Apart from the laptop (nym?), what have I been doing? Hmmm...

Didn't go dancing Saturday night, sleep too good. Then up and flew home. Such a beautiful sunny warm day. Nice for travelling and commuting and people watching.

Then to Daria and Bunyip's joint birthday party. Breakbeat, bowls and beer. Forced Lain to stop working and come to the bowling green. Picked up a mudcake on the way (v v lucky Lain was with me and in loop as to whether they had a cake or if someone else had arranged one). Was starving when we arrived and those perfect people had a stackload of food - The Best pumpkin risotto by Bunyip (so so good), plus a really good thai cashew noodle salad by Daria plus heaps of other salads (greek, roast veggie, couscous...), plus full-on flesh (sausages, veggie patties, plus this rather aesthetically arranged tray of marinating ribs). Bunyip was amusingly effusive about my bowling outfit (retro baby blue bowling shirt over white tshirt and grey flares). Bought several jugs, plus a couple of bottles of champers (Daria a non-beer drinker). Only had one go at bowls (quite a lot of people for two lanes or whatever they call them). Caught up with a couple of Daria's friends who I hardly ever see. Also ran into Ko (Qat's ex) and had a really good catch up chat. Neiman played some really good stuff, apparently several people from other groups came up and said "nice tunes" and "where do you play?" and "good work" and "do you have a card?", which he was quite chuffed about. The grounds were packed with groups of young people actually, bowls is a bit too trendy perhaps. We packed up and went for a drink at the Marquis of Lorne (we had quite a nice back room to ourselves). Got quite trashed... Must start that detox.
