I think you'll be surprised how fast it goes. I can't wait to see the pictures!

Yay! The yarn's a space-dyed merino-nylon blend by one of my favorite Oregon yarn artists, Lisa Milligan (Dicentra Designs). Until recently she only sold at festivals and yarn shows, but my LYS has started carrying some of her stuff - and look, she just opened an Etsy store:

No sock yarn yet, but I bet if you emailed her and told her a friend in Oregon sent you some socks and now you want to knit from it, she'd start... She's also adorable. I tend to spend a lot of time hanging around her booth at the Black Sheep Gathering. (-:

Mad, perhaps, but that sounds like a gorgeous project, with lots of lovely mindless knitting.

I fiddled around with knitting it in alternating rows with some of the large supply of black cash-silk 2-play in my stash, and in stockinette, the effect is quite pleasing.

oooooh, pretty. I'm interested to see your swatch -- do you have any pictures?

Not yet. Tomorrow, if the light's good outside, I'll see if I can get a good shot.

That sounds lovely!

I'm planning an honest-to-goodness Fair Isle in fingering Shetland -- at about 8 sts/inch -- for Roger. I'm going to be knitting freakin' colorwork on 3mm needles for the rest of *my* life. I wish the boy liked cables, but he is a colorwork fan.
