Not much, but still a welcome sign of winter. About to put oatmeal bread in the oven and must cook greens and butternut squash before lunch. My very quiet upstairs neighbour seems to have a very stompy guest: very disconcerting having the ceiling so loud.

1 bunch of dino kale cooked with one sauteed onion, smoked paprika, and cayenne. About 12oz chickpeas put in to warm and then the whole thing dumped on top of red quinoa (1 c. dry). Very tasty, and tons of leftovers that will be good for lunches. I think it needs a bit of vinegar in there somehow, so may experiment a bit ( Read more... )

I keep dithering about what to do with this space, but, in the meantime, perhaps posting some of the stuff I cook will help me regain my interest in cooking. And if I ever get around to buying a new usb cable, I may even have pictures! And who knows what wild and crazy things might follow from there--possibly even pictures of my cats ( Read more... )

Here's hoping for a sweet and fruitful new year. I am reveling in the feeling of actually doing something new (an MA program) and looking forward to the year in a way I haven't done in quite some time. I hope all of you have a wonderful year, with whatever you are doing.

After beating the odds and astounding the vets, our sweet cat Billie finally went into total heart failure and I had her euthanized last night. She was one hell of a cat: sweet, stubborn, queen of all she surveyed, with her panther walk and head butting and...

I miss her horribly but she wasn't in pain and went peacefully. Rest in peace,
