Temp Agencies

Hey Pittsburgh!

Does anyone know of any Temp/Staffing Agencies that have a good reputation? I googled it but that's not very helpful when looking into reputations.

Thanks!

I liked Adecco up until they screwed me over regarding some things. However, I have nothing but good things to say about the people at Pancoast.

I don't know what happened to Adecco. They used to be really good & treated their workers right. They landed me a temp-to-perm that I had for 5 years. When I went back to them a couple years ago, they gave me such a hard time about everything. I won't work for them ever again.

Here's why I am peeved at them. In December, they offered me a long term job that was to start on a day that I had a doctor's appointment that I had to make months in advance. I told them i would call the office and try and reschedule, but I had to talk to them, because if i just didn;t show up, i would get charged the co pay. The doctor's never called me back, and I called Adecco not knowing what to do, and they reported me to the unemployment office for "refusing a job" However, even though they filed those papers in December, they didn't mail them until March, which shows they weren't thinking, because whenever the unemployment office gets papers like that, they date stamp it and check the date the papers were filled out.

What are you looking for? If you're looking for a general temp agency, I had a lot of good luck with Randstad. (Their office is in Foster Plaza in Greentree.) They got me, among other things, a temp-to-hire position that I ended up in for almost three years.

If you're looking specifically for tech-related stuff, I got my current position (programming) through a technical recruiter called A.C. Coy. Their office is down in McMurray (about 5 miles south of South Hills Village), so you'll need a car to get there. If this fits in with what you're looking for, contact me privately and I'll set you up with names and whatnot, depending on exactly what you're looking for. (The company I work for is sister companies with A.C. Coy, so we share office space; I can walk between cubicles to ask my recruiter what he has that might be up your alley.)

Well, I'm not really a tech person. I just graduated from college with an English degree and I just need some work. I've been trying and trying to just get hired into a permanent full-time position and it's obviously not working, so now I'm going to try the temp-to-hire sort of thing. Just general office work I think. =D Thanks so much for the help though!

I know quite a few people who have had great success using Kelly Services.

Seems to me this question gets brought up enough to have a tag alongside the employment tag.

Yeah, I thought it would be in there, but it wasn't!

I haven't gotten a job (yet) through Pancoast but they have the highest rates of any agency I've seen. There are also the Pitt and CMU temp agencies, the former of which landed me a permanent job I had for 2.5 years.

Stay away from J. Croyle. They sent me on a wild goose chase to a job way the fuck out in Moon when they knew I couldn't drive and then tried to bully me into taking it. Maybe cuz nobody wants to work all the way out in Moon for $8.25 an hour?

That was just a crap experience. My mom just got the perfect job for her J Croyle for a ridiculous amount of money for the job.
