top five lists

Feb 08, 2006 09:08

From a meme I did a few weeks ago, here are the requested lists. Have felt absolutely horrid lately. Rob passed his sinus infection to me, and as usual when I'm really sick, I've pulled myself into a little KOTOR-playing antisocial hole. BTW, thank you, morningwind for getting me so addicted to 24 that I decided I didn't feel like waiting for Netflix and went ( Read more... )

Eeee! You're watching 24! *grins* Are you watching the current season or did you start with season 1? How many episodes have you seen so far? When I first checked out 24 on DVD, I only rented the first disc and promptly went stir crazy from withdrawal. :P Sadly, I haven't been able to watch the season that's airing on TV now, thanks to late night classes.

Sheltie (I could go on all day with dog breeds, especially if territoriality and allergies aren't factors: pit bull, Siberian Husky, American Eskimo, cockapoo (even if not really a breed, they're still adorable), Belgian sheepdog...)

Awww. Shelties, pit bulls, huskies, eskies and cockapoos are adorable. One of my neighbors in Maryland had two cockapoos -- so very, very cute. I love your answers for #2, #4 and #5, too. The only thing I find intimidating about Norwegian Forest Cats is the sheer amount of hair!

*hugs* I'm sorry you're not feeling well; sinus infections are absolutely hellish. :\

Before I say anything else, AWWWwwwwicon!!! :) It's an Ipod-Osama! (That profile is definitely Persian.)

I'm starting from Season 1. I had the same problem you did, I Netflixed the first one and promptly went insane from "OMGwhathappensnext?!?" fever. Netflix wasn't fast enough, so I went out and bought the boxed set. :) I think I'm up to 4pm. I'd like to slap the daughter, btw. She looks like Jenna Bush and acts like her, too. And ugh, that wife of the Senator, does she die? Please?

As for Norwegian Forest cats, I've had three Persians/Himalayans and a Ragdoll. I doubt I'd notice anything *else* shedding around here! Every time I brush Osama I literally get a paper grocery bag full of hair. It's scary.

EEP! Sorry to hear about the sinus infection! That sucks.

I've heard 24 is really good. I've heard nothing but good about it, matter of fact.

I just watched Kanye's Grammy performance. As much as I didn't like the "Jesus Walks" production number last year, I liked it better than "Golddigger". Sorry. I guess I'm just not a rap girl.

Better than the 80s flashback I had earlier today when I was explaining from memory the difference between Sheila E. and Sheena Easton. My memory for obscure pop trivia is more than a little freaky sometimes.

Mrr? How the hell could anyone mix up those two?!? "Strut" was fun, but Sheena is no "Glamorous Life" girl! I liked both, but I absolutely adored Shiela E. in the '80s. :)

Despite the one or two amusing lines, I can't stand "Golddigger", so you're not alone on that one. Although you dislike a couple of my favorites of his, so... you're either not a rap girl or you're not a Kanye girl. FWIW, I do think most rap sounds better in the studio. I saw a show where Kanye did "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" live, and it wasn't nearly as good, IMO, as the regular radio cut.

{{{BIG HUG}}} Hope you feel better soon!

When I get really behind in my flist, I usually just go directly to friend's journals, one at a time, and catch up on their recent posts. That way I keep up on the important stuff, or important people, rather, and the stuff I don't really care about is the stuff that falls through the cracks.

I don't think I've been up to anything you really care about, unless you're interested in an interview with Zahn, me complaining about being a social outcast, or lots of geeky web stuff concerning SWC updates.

I'm especially interested in the Zahn stuff, I'll catch up tomorrow. BTW, I've kept my promise to you... sorta. I haven't read any of the X-Wing novels because when I first went looking they were checked out. Instead, I got his NJO novels, and am now absolutely hooked on the series. I'm in the middle of "Star by Star" now, and I've read them all in sequence except for "Traitor". The NJO is way, way better than I expected, and "Traitor" is exceptional. I'd go so far as to say it's almost literary. I love the dark feel of the series, and I especially love that the whole thing is basically about the consequences of the heroes choices from other eras-- instead of mindless whooping and celebrating the death of the evil empire, this is a real war with real people dying, where decisions can (and will) come back to bite you in the ass. I like the kids working through how to be Jedi in a world where suddenly the word of a Jedi *isn't* law and they *can't* wade through the opposition like gods. About the only thing I'd like to see that isn't ( ... )

Eeeeeeeee! So much awesome news and excitement all in one post! That's soooooooo awesome that you're enjoying the NJO,and that you're so far into it! Most of the novels really were quite good, and yes, Traitor was quite the thought inspiring one. I read all of the NJO books except the one where Jaina goes Dark. I heard it was pretty stupid, and the one that directly follows it covered the same time period, but just ignored Jaina for the most part, and so I just never bothered to read it. Dark Journey might be the title. The end of the series is very good, too. Luceno did an excellent job with the last book. Speaking of which, I picked up Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader as a gift for a friend last night, and after reading the jacket, I really want to read it now ( ... )

1) Tupac
2) Outkast
3) Snoop Dogg
4) Eminem
tied: 5) Chuck D [Public Enemy] & Ice Cube

No, I'm definitely interested! I'm still forming impressions of a lot of these people, and the only thing I have access to right now for non-radio rap is Pandora.com. As much as I love that service, you don't get to pick what they play, and I haven't heard enough of the "classics" to say what I like and don't like yet ( ... )

ROFL "kree"? I've got to listen to it again if I can find it...

Common's best song is "Come Close" which features Mary J. Blige. I love Mary J. so much, so that probably has a lot to do with me liking the song. "Hollaback Girl" is the worst song Gwen Stefani's ever done. I want to slap her for it.

Oh god - George Bush doesn't care about black people! That's a running joke around our house now. "George Bush doesn't care about Latino midgets! George Bush doesn't care about Cajun football players!"

Eminem is an aquired taste, I think; I've been digging on him since "My Name Is Slim Shady" though. In fact, this afternoon I listened to "The Marshall Mathers LP" while I was cleaning out the guest bedroom. :) You should give "Drug Ballad" a try. That's one of my favorites of his.

I only like a few Jay-Z songs. I think he's the biggest phony who ever lived...

I keep meaning to write to you and say "now I understand!!" I finally figured out how to burn a CD (we had a bad experience with a CD burner years ago that we could never get to work, so I've semi-consciously shied away from the things, not realizing that they've made it easy nowadays *feels dumb*) and I downloaded several of the songs I gave a thumbs-up to on Pandora ( ... )
