ALL the trains went down today. ALL of them. 400,000 commuters affected directly. And with no replacement buses, that meant trams were the only mode of transport. Or bikes, or cars/taxis. Every single freeway was at a crawl, and most people didn't get into work on time.

Including me. I start at 8.30.... I made it in at 10.30.

We're finally here, in freezing cold and bloody windy Melbourne! Though my old town's been hit with a cold snap that has the thermometre hovering at aorund 5 degrees, tops, so I can't complain!

So. My laptop is eight years old. It's ancient. I expect things to go wrong. Such as it sometimes not registering the charger, which is happening more and more frequently now. What I didn't expect was for it to start heating up so much that it starts melting the charger.

 ...is when you have nightmare after nightmare after nightmare for seven hours, and you can't wake yourself up because you're drugged. Adding sleep paralysis was the icing.

I haven't had a night that bad in a while.

Something small that amuses me to no end: driving through a locust plague with 'Ride of the Valkyries' blasting through the speakers.

Since I started taking the sleeping pills, I've gone from being awake for 22 hours (or more) at a time, to a mere eight hours a day.

Good Lord, that's a lot of zees.

Hah! I may actually, finally, have a cure for my insomnia!

K knows how much I hate doctors (the last one I went to - 10 yeas ago - threatened to stab me with a needle), and so she rang her doctor to make two appointments - one for each of us - when I was asleep, and thus unable to argue. Smart girl!
