A lot of people really enjoyed it, actually, and it scored fairly well. It helps that the story was actually put together very well without being a clone of a previous game.
......Sucked as a Silent Hill game, though.

The games are starting to lose their magic for me, and that makes me very sad. What started out as a groundbreaking series is slowly turning into a big joke. :(

From my understanding, Shattered Memories got a lukewarm reception amongst the fandom. A lot of people readily admit that it's flawed, but they say there are some good points that kinda salvage it. I have no idea; I haven't played it, either.

I really don't feel like Silent Hill is a series that needs to be drawn out- sure, it has plenty of possibilities, but do they really need to be explored? Especially since it's heading more and more in the direction of being an 'EVIL TOWN WITH CREEPY MONSTERS!!' instead of something unique and carefully written.
It's really a mystery to me why Konami would keep passing something like this around; it's not like it has a simple plot that someone can just pick up and run with.

Keep in mind bb that half of the Silent Hill games have nothing to do with the main storyline at all. I don't think you should worry about it being mangled, since it seems like it was never that important to begin with.

The only SH that was really an abomination to the original canon was Shattered Memories, since it was completely AU and threw all mythos out the window. And it sucked in its own right, too, but that's a different story all together.

And not for nothing, man, you never actually really played any of the SH games past 4. Just give it a chance. ♥

That's one of the things I miss: the attempted raising of gods and crazy cults and even the drug trafficking. I want a return to all of that, dammit. Not even explicitly, just on the fringe.

But less than half of the games dealt with that. 8( And even 2 of the 4 games that Team Silent made didn't. I don't know if it's oldfagging so much as just liking 1 and 3 more than the others.
