Proteus (the name of the A.I. in Demon Seed) would, in a way, be like HAL from the 2001: A Space Odyssey, but he's worse. This woman, Susan, Proteus to have a child with to have as a sort of vessel to transfer all its intelligence into the infant so he could maintain his smarts while actually feel and experience real human emotions. ...Creepy, really messed up stuff. After reading the synopsis of the film version I think I'd see it for curiosity's sake. The whole premise Koontz thought up was a bit ahead of its time ( ... )
