It always amazes me how wildly different plants can be so closely related, like all varieties of onion, garlic, chive, and leek, which are all the same species. But get this: apricots, peaches, plums, cherries, and almonds are all in the same genus. Baking focaccia has only increased my desire for Italian food. I went to the Strip District in search of some good fresh mozzarella, and all I can say is, why have I never gone to the Pennsylvania Macaroni Company before? Recently I've had a strange urge to consume jarred marinated vegetables, like artichokes, roasted red peppers, sundried tomatoes, capers, and green olives (although I still don't like black olives). I love nuts. I almost always have bags of pecans and walnuts in the fridge that I mostly use in salads, and sometimes almonds. I started buying brazilnuts awile ago, which I'm not particularly crazy about but they have tons of selenium (one nut has more than 100% of your RDA of selenium, which is important for prostate health).
