Know what's incredible? The guys who rescued the teenager stranged on the ice floe got stranded themselves and needed to be rescued by someone else.
In wildlife class our prof told us that polar bears are the only North American animal that automatically regard humans as food. "They don't run from you, they don't hide, they don't try to scare you off, they just walk up to you and try to eat you", he said.

The teen who was stranded on an ice floe was out there hunting polar bears to begin with, so the risk of turn about is merely ironic. And as for the porcupines, well, being born with quills would be very awkward for the mother.
