Also, I once drove to a doctor's office and informed the receptionist who kept pissing me off that I was going to wait to speak to the nurse or else. When she put me off, I literally walked up to one of the nurses when she called another patient back and said "Hi, I really need to speak to [nurse], will you tell her that [my name] is in the waiting room for her?" The woman looked SO flustered, but damn if the other nurse didn't come out FIVE MINUTES LATER.
And how shocking, no, the receptionist hadn't given her my messages, and yes, my test results were there.
I wrote a letter of complaint to the nurse, my doctor, the Chief of Medicine at that hospital AND the entire board of directors. Gee, guess who wasn't there next time I went to that place, and guess who got treated SO MUCH BETTER?
*innocent smile* I don't put up with being treated like crap any longer.
Lord have mercy. I think my dentist's receptionist -- AKA 'that evil bitch' -- has been cloned and is working in Seattle. Does this practice have an office manager? If so, I'd either call or write to that person a letter of complaint. It's not like you can just jump in the car and whiz down there to take care of your business in person, so they need to learn to snap to and do it by phone without all this incompetent BS.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the spectrum is the supreme suckage and willful incompetence of the rude receptionist you've had to deal with.
*hugs* I hope you don't have to get it straightened out by yourself...but seeing as you're the most capable person in the phone equation...*headdesk*
