This was always going to be a slightly less than brilliant Eastercon for us, since Jill had chemo on the Tuesday, which means that the weekend itself was going to be her ‘bad’ weekend. She got unplugged and sorted on Thursday afternoon and we set off from Essex at about 2ish. 7 hours later we finally arrived at the Cedar Court.

Normally I've got a pretty good handle on such things - I just lock everything into little mental boxes, throw the keys away and stack 'em in the attic in my mind. Not really written anything for a while for various reasons. We went to Madeira for a week, which was nice - warm, with lots to do. A bit stressful though since we didn't have insurance, but we didn't break anything. Jill has now been to the Royal Marsden once, and is due to go back again next week. We went to see another specialist today, the chemotherapy one. They're offering her chemo, because of her age and general level of fitness. On average patients on chemo in her condition can expect to live between 2.5 to 3 years. Without it she would have about 6 months. Bit of a no-brainer really.

So now we know.

I'll keep this brief, because it's all that I'm capable of. Saw Jill's specialist today, who confirmed that the cancer has moved to her liver and is very advanced. It's in both lobes and they can't operate. All that they can do is to give her chemotherapy to slow it and give her a little more time. Dear god I can't believe that I'm writing this.
