So, outnumbered was he? One of the newly arrived voices belonged to Stephanie Brown, but the other, though he recognized it, he couldn't place just yet. The Joker tucked the barrel of his Glock into the top of his pants, no longer in need of it. To make this situation work to his advantage, he needed something a bit more explosive, and he had just the thing ( ... )

Dick stared at the ceiling as he heard what he thought was a Tim sized person settle into the bed next to him. The large somewhat calloused hand that squeezed his own blood stained one let him know that Roy was right beside him. The archer was at his side just as he had been in the same position when Roy was detoxing from heroin all those years ago. He resisted the urge to squeeze back when Bones would accidently hit a nerve here and there, maybe it was just his stubborn pride or maybe he was trying to do what bruce would have done never the less he was doing it.

"Dude, it's there for a reason." He muttered as he felt the light return squeeze on his hand.

Roy knew of Dick insecurities to live up to Batman's expectation, they all had them but living with Ollie he knew that idols fell short of them themselves.

"He's not here, you don't have to keep all of this in. I doubt even the emotionless Bruce Wayne wouldn't be in as much pain as you are in right now, the lony difference is Timmy and me are here to help you through it."

Bones brought over his equipment and worked in silence, giving Dick a hypospray for the pain, then cleaning the wounds so he could get a better look at the damage. "This isn't good," he muttered. That eye was in terrible condition. He reached up to move a light so he could see the wound better. "Can you see out of that side at all?" he asked, thinking he might already know the answer to that question.

" No..just black.." Dick replied as he looked at bones with his good eye hoping the good doctor could at least save the eye, maybe even fix it later. This was going to take a bit of getting used to either way and he wasn't looking forward to it. " can you save it doc.."

" Tim keep Roy from giving me the last rites will you?" Dick chuckled weakly as he looked straight at the ceiling once more.

"And here I thought you loved me." He said jokingly. "You know I've got the experiance, but you're gonna pull through this."

He looked down at his blood brother with what he hoped was a reassuring smile, Roy knew the dark-haired man was in good hands but he couldn't help put feel that Dick needed that little extra support.

"When you're all healed up we'll go and see Lian with Bruce, think of it as training, if you can keep up with a four-year-old you're gonna be fine."

"I can probably do something with it," Bones said, his voice distracted as he worked. "But it's going to take time and patience. It has to heal before I can do anything to repair it, and then it has to heal from the repair."

"Yes, he'll live," Bones assured Dick's friends. "I'm sure he'll be back on the street finding new and original things for me to patch up," he couldn't help but grumble.

"I have every faith in your skills, doctor," Tim said, giving him a wry little smile. "And Dick can't help but get into trouble. It's one of his charms."

" What Can I say Im a charming guy" Dick replied gripping roy's hand a little in intinctive response to bones working on his eye once more even if the painkiller had taken affect. It was safe to say the man was jumpy.

"Are you sure he's okay doc, he's becoming delusional." Roy commented with a smile, he knew that acting normal around Dick would but the other man's mind at ease.

He squeezed back on the hand he was holding, giving the injured man the comfort he was too stubborn to ask for.

Bones couldn't help but smirk. "I'll check his brain function next," he promised Roy.

He could feel Dick's nervousness and paused briefly to give his shoulder a quick pat. "I know this isn't fun," he said quietly. "It'll be over soon enough." He frowned as he carefully cleaned the wound and injured eye.

Tim snorted lightly. "Don't bother. We already know it's impaired," he said, smiling a little. Joking was helping him stay relaxed. He's be freaking out if he couldn't find a way to dispel the tension--there was a lot of damage.

"Trust the Junior Boy Wonder Doc, he's be with Dickie the longest." Roy said with a smile, if this was the only way to get Tim through what had happened to their elder brother then he was more than willing to play along and help.

"You okay over there Timmy? You know we don't bite, right?"

Dick Resisted the urge to blink away the fluid, it was probably looking quite worse now that it was being cleaned. If only Roy could get Tim to calm down a little, the younger bat was one to get stressed and tense in situations like this. " Guess this means I need to order another eyepatch right kiddo? no pirate jokes this time"

"This I have to hear. Come on Tim, since he can't kill either of us at the moment, tell me about the jokes we're not going say around him."

He smiled at the youth, hoping that this might bring the boy out of the shell he's erected around himself.

Tim gave him a slight smile. "Well, there's always the Bat-eyepatch," he mused thoughtfully. "And the Bat-parrot, and the Bat-pegleg..."
