I fail completely at being a girl! It's stinking hot so I was having a longish coldish (a bit below lukewarm really) shower and figured if I'm going to start wearing dresses I should make like the tv ads think women do every morning without fail and shave. Good local news: Sydenham is open to traffic again. It's a suburb south of the city centre that Colombo St goes straight though, that being the street that dissects the city on the N-S axis right through the centre, and most of the buildings are fairly old as originally it wasn't part of Christchurch ( Read more... )

There was a second mine explosion yesterday at Pike River. The official word is that all 29 men are assumed dead - AFAIK we don't have concrete proof eg bodies, but the expert opinion is that no one could have survived even if they were still alive.
