My Stardust Melody, Chapter 19

Jun 09, 2012 15:18

When Nathan came out of the bathroom, he was about to comment on the humongous stash of condoms in the medicine cabinet but then he saw Reid standing with his arms folded and looking generally pissed off.  As he came closer to the sofa and could see Luke over the edge of the back, he expected to see a mirrored expression to Reid's ( Read more... )

Thank you, lemondrop. Your comments are always thought-provoking. I don't think I would like Luke as much here if he seemed at all cloying or needy when it comes to being liked by another person. Since he's responsible for raising three kids, I'd find that characteristic neediness a bit hard to swallow. If Luke was able to drop everything to care for the kids, then I think it's likely he's really honed his belief in his own judgments. God knows he's made all the decisions for his family for years. Anyway I think being responsible for others has positive impacts on other parts of his life ( ... )

"I won't tolerate him being insulted in any way. While I haven't found a specific reason to dislike you, you're not my friend. He is."
"I'd do anything for Reid,"

I feel like singing the Golden Girls tune here. Thank you, Nathan, for being such a good friend. The one Reid deserves. And needs, to be honest.

Both Reid and Luke have been deceived two years ago, by someone Luke, not Reid, knows better than to trust just lke that. Just saying.

p.s. Sorry, got carried away a little (happens to me sometimes...), forgot to mention this was a great update :D

Thank you. I felt like both Luke and Reid deserved good friends in this story because I gave them such tough backgrounds. And, I've always preferred to think of Reid as having a good friend or two growing up rather than being a complete loner. I've known a couple guys like him, and they always had one or two friends who managed to put up with them and just roll their eyes when necessary.

I can't decide who I think should have trusted Damian less. All Reid really knew about Damian was that he was some sort of crime lord. That really shouldn't inspire too much confidence. But then, Luke has dealt with Damian enough to know that Damian isn't exactly a straight shooter. But Damian did seem "new and improved" for the three years leading up to that party, which is why I think Luke trusted him. Oh well, the truth is bound to come out sometime and then they both can feel silly for having believed Damian to begin with.

Thoroughly enjoyed the update. I love how Reid's go to behavior pattern of running when things are uncomfortable have left us with this delightfully insightful conversation between Luke and Nathan.

I don't know if you will cover what Reid is up to during this time, but I am envisioning him having a full blown panic attack. (that or him pressing a water glass against the door so he can hear every word)

I absolutely love your last line. I'm hanging on every word they are saying to each other. Great update.

Thank you. Personally, I think Reid is clutching a pillow to his chest while he sulks. But a panic attack would work, too. :)
