In Reid's case, his experience with his parents may have made him more likely to believe the crap Damian spewed. And in Luke's, that experience probably made him more apt to believe Damian just because he so badly wanted to have one parent who lived up to what they said. Of course, I'm not sure who was more foolish to believe Damian--Luke should have known better from experience, and all Reid knew was that Damian was a criminal, so why believe that guy? Oh well.
It cracks me up that you refer to "my Luke" in this story--I know you're a Reid fan at heart like me, so I love that Luke has won you over so much here.
I, too, have high hopes that Reid will soon realize that Luke is so much better than advertized by Damian.
