Gah....

Expecting a call, so I took the phone with me down to the other end of the house. Came back from other end of house. Got call. Phone still at other end of house! RUN! Get to phone.... one second too late. FAIL!

In retrospect, it all seems so inevitable.

I recently bought a fairly crappy iaito - a sword intended for iaido practice. The blade itself is made of spring steel, I think; it's reasonably hard (though not nearly hard enough to keep an edge for more than a minute) and fairly flexible. I just watched Robin Hood, directed by Ridley Scott, written by Brian Helgeland.

It was terrible.

I have no particular quarrel with the direction (though the Saving Private Ryan rip-offs were a bit painful) and the acting was competent, even good. But the screenplay was absolute shit. It managed to sully both the Robin Hood legend and the ( Read more... )

We got off pretty lightly. Annette lost some precious vases, and our chimney mostly fell down (the remainder is scheduled to be removed this morning). I now have a very well waxed workroom floor as a couple of bottles of car wax and beeswax took suicide dives from a high shelf.

And that's about it. It's been a bit wearying.
