Because a Hurricane, Snowstorm, and Presidential Election weren't stressful enough. We now have a gas shortage. With no clear end in sight.

You know there's no one who loves '70's nostalgia more than me obviously. But gas lines? Plate rationing? It's 1979 all over again. Fantastic. You know, until you lose it you never appreciate your freedoms. ( Read more... )

Howard drove through Westchester to Greenwich Connecticut to gas up. He called ahead and found a gas station on the NY/Conn. border with plenty of gas and only a 15 minute wait. He said there were only 20 cars ahread of him instead of the 100 down the block at our 7-11. If that's a viable option for you, ping me and I can give you the address.

First, you are right. Gas is not a right. But my freedom to travel where I please is and that is the commodity that makes it easier and faster for me. Gas is not a luxury. Like electricity, it is a necessary part of our lives. Many people make the mistake of thinking that this is just about people wanting/needing to drive. It isn't. Yes the hurricane caused the problem now and it will eventually go back to normal. But what if we decided not to drill? What if oil rose in price drastically enough to create a shortage or price increase? Everything will be effected. As someone who works in the transportation industry, gas is essentially attached to my ability to make a living.
