Cultural 'appropriation'?
Something I read on fandomsecrets (I read it and very occasionally comment; I never post on it) made me wonder. There were a couple of secrets complaining essentially about US 'appropriation' of British culture. Basically, apparently US Americans who like British TV and literature are somehow behaving offensively.

Chief drugs advisor Professor David Nutt was sacked recently for stating that cannabis is less dangerous overall than alcohol and tobacco. He was asked to step down because this information, while based on the available scientific evidence, and representing Professor Nutt's genuine informed opinion, was in conflict with current government policy.
