It is with great sadness that I tell you that Badger/Alice E. Washburn passed away this afternoon at 2:06. Her family, partner Jeremy, sister Pat, Dad Stewart, and courtesy cousins Persis and Suli Isaacs said goodbye. She did not die alone. Wednesday evening, I went in to see badgerthorazine Badger/Alice E. Washburn. She was looking good, has some colour, and the nurses are braiding her hair in a very regular basis. Still in medically induced coma, but her nurse Crystal said she is continuing to make infinitesimal positive babysteps. Friday, I got a text from my friend Suli, who said that our friend Badger was in MGH and it did not sound good. She broke her left femur on November 15, had surgery on it November 18, was recovering (Suli and daughter went to visit on the 19th) and was in ICU as of the 20th. This mornings work: dug black plastic trenches at both ends for 31 beds, removing tuber-root dock and crabgrass from the fields; pounded metal stakes for 5 beds of Pick-Your-Own sugar snap peas, strung netting for these 5 beds; pounded stakes for 3 beds shell peas, 3 beds of snow peas. And it was time for lunch.
