Why? There's something weird and creepy about pairing them together when he died for her sake under the Master's reign...

Besides, she deserves someone magnificent like Jack or Sarah Jane...

Erm maybe I don't do creeped out easilly and besides Jackie and Pete got together dispite their other halfs being the parellel versions and dying, and he didn't die cos the time rewound, ok Martha will remember it but technically it didn't happen!

Anyway If not Jack is a very good bet! Unless the Dr comes to his senses and shags her sensless for as long as possible.... not that i'm hoping,;p I'll have to stick with your stories in the meantime!

Why is PS following me everywhere I join?)

That was different though, with Pete and Jackie...

I just don't think Tom's good enough for Martha and I resent the implication she needs to have a man in her life - it's as if they can only think of getting her over the crush on Ten by making her love someone else. Grr !!

As to PS, no idea - wasn't aware that was happening...

It is awesome news about the Sarah Jane Adventures isn't it? Much longer and I might have worried - only might though.

And...I don't want her to be with Tom Milligan either, he wasn't the most interesting of characters. Alright for one episode but that's it. But after that I really don't know who it could be.

I wasn't worried, just puzzled by the Beeb not announcing it when Lis had confirmed it !

I agree with you entirely re. Tom...

I don't actually see why Martha has to be engaged/married to anyone. It's perfectly possible for someone to be happily single but "friends with benefits" with others...

I don't think I understand the engaged bit the most. Boyfriend I could understand - at a push, but engaged just seems a bit...overkill on the matter.

I think I agree with you, Martha should be single but with "friends with benefits"

I can put up with giving her a boyfriend I suppose, though it seems like a helluva cop-out (and is it wrong of me to wish they'd given her a girlfriend instead?)

Martha is made of so much awesome that she doesn't NEED a man to make her more wonderful !

I am TOTALLY gay for Freema - so much so that it's actually embarrassing ! :P Good job I've given up shame for Lent !

Martha+UNIT+SJS+Brig is TO DIE FOR ! (Although I'd rather live and squee !)

Shhhittt! I forgot it was Lent; not religious, but normally try to give up something for it XD

I totally and utterly agree - how fricken cool would it be if the Doctor got in trouble only to be saved and come face-to-face with SJS, Martha and The Brig? *has been thinking about it too much*

I'm not religious either... I just said that about giving up shame for Lent 'cos I've been utterly shameless today ! :D

It would be totally and utterly cool - and a lot of us would definitely die of squee if it happened !! Have you seen jinxed_wood's Martha+UNIT+Brig+SJS stories? If not I STRONGLY recommend them!

I reiterate that if Martha becomes Brig she can drift in and out of the series, depending on the particular Doctor's involvement with UNIT and will keep kicking ass for many many years to come while Freema acts in other stuff. Also, like Lethbridge-Stewart, she might end up meeting past Doctors. :D

I'm indifferent to Tom Milligan. He's a smart, brave man, but if I were Martha I'd always see echoes of the retconned Tom. It would be awkward and she'd never be able to explain it properly. I can see psychological stuff like that ruining a relationship.

I LOVE that idea enormously !!

That's what I was thinking but too tired to say articulately (long, long day ! O_O)

Re: Miligan: Word, word, word. If she is with Tom and there's not even an acknowledgment of the supreme weirdness involved, it'll just be sloppy.

it'll just be sloppy.

In which case, we can probably expect it...

How to get a woman over a man is to get her a different man, preferrably a dull one. Yes, kids, Martha was just man-hungry.

Well yeah - she was chasing anything in trousers the entire series... (in RTD's head, anyway !)

Why shouldn't Martha move on and have a beau? even if she is engaged or not, having a man does not degenerate a woman's awsomeness in fact if your with a man who supports who you are and do that's even better, no Martha does not need a man to make her awsome true but she does not need to be be gay(with a woman) either to be awsome!

Ok we'll agree to dissagree over Tom fine, we all have our ideal sit for Martha wehter she is gay or with Jack, I just think she is awsome anyway because she faces the sit she is in and is head on brave etc!

P.S is in RH2006,( I am a member there) Freema love recently,After-Darkness, Buffy-Boards sister forum, everywhere I go!

I'm not saying Martha can't move on or have a fella, but why does she NEED a fella? RTD seems to have this warped view of women that they can't be complete without a man (after all, he even managed to pair Jackie off with Alt!Pete...)

As a single woman with a lifelong intention to never marry, it irks me that so many people still insist that women can't be happy unless they're with someone.
