This week's episode - the final one in the current run - was written by Debbie O'Malley. Somehow it felt more like a S2 episode than a S3 one.

Oh! That does sounds like quite a downer. I wonder where they are going with Matt's character.

Ronnie: I don't we need a warrant, do you?

Was that supposed to be doubt in there? Sorry, betaing has taken over my brain when I read.

I don't think they're actually going anywhere with Matt's character - I think it was just James using the fact that Matt had lied to strengthen Ronnie's 'evidence' so he could win the case. Which was a bit underhand of James - but completely in character. And of course it seemed believable to the jury because Matt's clearly younger and less experienced than Ronnie.

There was meant to be a "think" in there - thanks for spotting it.

Great recap!! I'll definitely icon some of these pics. :)

That sucks though, that it's not as shippy as the others.

Let me know if you want more! As per, I capped it madly, but only used a few in this post!

Definitely need one of Alesha in that leather skirt! It was giving me naughty dreams all night! :P

I felt as if Debbie O'Malley had failed to get the memo everyone else had received regarding Alesha & James' relationship...

Did I tell you, I actually found an interview with Ben a couple of days ago, in which he mentioned that (a) he believed that the skating trip with Ethan was James and Alesha's first date, and (b) the writers decided to write James/Alesha bceause Ben and Free have SO MUCH chemistry! (I think it's pretty much down to him adoring her for being a fellow L&O geek - and, you know, she's hawt! :P)

:O No, you didn't, but I'm happy to hear that!! It was totally their first date.

and (b) the writers decided to write James/Alesha bceause Ben and Free have SO MUCH chemistry!

XD This makes us ever more happy!! I'm just waiting for the day when he walks over to her desk as if he were about to tell her something, but then grabs and kisses her like there's no tomorrow.

Sorry not to respond sooner - I was watching last night's Sanctuary. Has Declan quit the London Sanctuary for Canada or was he just loitering with intent?

Yeah sure, thanks! This way I can cap this and the last link you gave me at the same time.

Okie doke! I'll upload to Sendspace as, apparently, MU has a flash ad that is loaded with a virus so if you download files while the flash ads on the screen, it downloads the virus to your computer too! o_O

Here you go: http://www.sendspace.com/file/t8fhkl

I'll keep thatn in mind.

Cheers!

I thought it was totally cute - Ben's clearly happy to ship James and Alesha.

Oh man! I want that kiss SO much!

I think it was the best episode of the season. Very gritty and gripping.

James certainly takes no prisoners but Alisha is no better. She's the one who threw Matt under the bus because when she gave James the piece of information about the hospital she knew what James would have to do. James and Alisha are two peas in a pod, that's why they get on so well.

James and Alesha are NOT two peas in a pod - in fact they're opposites in almost everything except in their desire for Justice. She's the yin to his yang.

Alesha did NOT throw Matt under the bus - she gave James the information that she knew would strength *Ronnie's* argument and to make sure James had the best information to convince the jury. Yes, she knew what she was doing, and what James would do with that information - but it's Alesha's duty to make sure James has all the information that's necessary to build his case and get a successful prosecution.

Matt isn't a saint in all this - he lied to the hospital lawyers - that was an extremely foolish thing to do, and he should've known that (a) Alesha/the CPS would find out, and (b) that James would use it once they had that information as well as Ronnie's "new evidence".

And don't forget, Matt wanted Lowry sent down for murdering Stephanie just as much as Ronnie, James and Alesha.

Well IMO James and Alesha are very much alike, just a different packaging.

My post was regarding Alesha's comment to James after the trial. He did what he had to do to win the case. James did the "dirty work" but Alesha was the one who came with the idea and gave him the information necessary to discredit Matt's testimony.

I did not say that Matt was a saint. But Matt could not have know whene he talked to the hospital lawyers, that the girl would be killed two days later and that there would be a case and that Ronnie would change the conclusion of their investigation.

James and Alisha threw Matt under the bus, that's why James called him colateral damage. Was it necessary? Yes. But I am sure that James hated every second of it.

You must be watching a different show to me if you think Alesha's like James ( ... )

Very nice review, as usual!
Thank you for the gardening leave explanation! ^^

A shame, though, that this particular ep was the last ep of the (official) season - I want my team to be on good terms... *sniff*
Now when the show continues Matt will hate everyone (except Ronnie maybe). :-(

Thanks!

You're welcome - I figured there'd be a number of people who'd have no idea what 'gardening leave' actually meant!

I think Matt will not be in a happy place with either Ronnie or James - probably he'll be on the best terms with Alesha, but even then it'll be coloured by the fact that she and James are a team(/couple)...

I take comfort in the small smile we saw on his face at the end. Surely if you respect your partner so much (and have to work with him every day) you can forgive him this kind of lapse.
James and Alesha however...there just have to be repercussions in the next ep.

But I very much hope that in the end we'll see them all at the pub, drinking/celebrating together.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see either any repercussions, or any celebrating, but they just go on more or less as if hadn't happened.
