This week's episode - the final one in the current run - was written by Debbie O'Malley. Somehow it felt more like a S2 episode than a S3 one.

Very nice review, as usual!
Thank you for the gardening leave explanation! ^^

A shame, though, that this particular ep was the last ep of the (official) season - I want my team to be on good terms... *sniff*
Now when the show continues Matt will hate everyone (except Ronnie maybe). :-(

Thanks!

You're welcome - I figured there'd be a number of people who'd have no idea what 'gardening leave' actually meant!

I think Matt will not be in a happy place with either Ronnie or James - probably he'll be on the best terms with Alesha, but even then it'll be coloured by the fact that she and James are a team(/couple)...

I take comfort in the small smile we saw on his face at the end. Surely if you respect your partner so much (and have to work with him every day) you can forgive him this kind of lapse.
James and Alesha however...there just have to be repercussions in the next ep.

But I very much hope that in the end we'll see them all at the pub, drinking/celebrating together.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see either any repercussions, or any celebrating, but they just go on more or less as if hadn't happened.

That may fit the format of the show...still, it would be very disappointing. I understand that they don't want to turn L&O UK into a soap opera, but you can't just have the characters do certain things and then pretend they didn't happen...

They referred to the rape in later eps, so I just hope they'll sort this out to a degree.

True, they did - I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
