CT's was just AMAZING in this eps! She is such a great actress. Yeah, they were massive plot holes in this but it could be similar to what the Trickster did in the SJA.

- Rose was suddenly a scientific genius who could help reverse-engineer a TARDIS, would not speak her name and hated being saluted by UNIT - so she's the Doctor? RTD clearly lied when he said he hadn't brought Rose back to change her. Not that I wanted miserable, pining Rose back, but this was pretty ridiculous!

Well, I guess she could learn but yeah. It was a pretty big stretch.

Next week's trailer got me so excited though! Honestly, I was so surprised I enjoyed this considering I completely skipped Midnight. It's not to be surprised for once.

Yeah - for once RTD didn't lie, when he said she was good in this episode...

She could indeed learn, but that much, especially about the TARDIS?

I am mildly excited - but it's still only mild excitement, I'm afraid.

He needed to tone down the Rose as a scientific genius stuff like WHOA. She seemed very busy bee in the episode, so I'm desperately hand-waving the salute as her not wanting to get bogged down in formalities because she's not the Doctor, even if I liked her she would not be the Doctor. But the scientific expertise...um...no. The Doctor doesn't clue people in that much, and there's nobody else who could've taught her.

Exactly! I could understand if it had been other companions (eg. Martha, Sarah Jane, Liz) who all have some sort of scientific background (or in SJS's case, a past working with UNIT, hence her ability to build a "Cloudbursting" machine in "Warriors of Kudlak"), but for Rose? Nope, so very not convinced...

Rose presumably has alt!Torchwood training -- they did manage to build universe-hoppers -- but what's the Time Lord tech knowledge about? Even if she's "just saying stuff the Doctor might say," it's suspiciously spot on...

I can buy alt!Torchwood training, but yes, the Time Lord tech knowledge is just OOC!

- Catherine Tate was brilliant. I love the way she showed us pre-TRB Donna, and the fact that she's always been a fiesty, fiery woman!

Agreed! CT rocked my socks off in this episode.

- Rose seemed more mature.

About time. And that's all I'll say about that.

Dislikes:

LOL

I didn't even have to quote them as I agree with each and every one, especially the plot holes (had to suspend serious amounts of disbelief for this episode) and Rose as a scientific genius.

I'm sorry, but that I am not buying. Not yet anyway. I'll hold off until after next week's episode to see if I still don't buy it before I make a (moderate) stink about it. :)

All I can think is that this is BadWolf!Rose - and therefore eating the TARDIS has made her oodles smarter. I can believe she's got Alt!TW training and even got herself an education since Doomsday, but not the scientific genius bit - so it must be the TARDIS talking through her...

She was fantastic in this episode, she has to get some sort of award for this series. And go Catherine for proving everybody who thought she'd be terrible wrong!

the TARDIS dying (yes, very sad, but proof that Doctor/TARDIS is the ONLY ship that matters, heh!)

I nearly cried at that bit! *sniffle*

the reference to the labour camps and England for the English as if the BNP had taken over.

That really annoyed me that bit. The scene was fantastically played, but the fact that we'd suddenly turned into Nazis irritated me no end. And also, England for the English people? What happened to Britain? Why's it an attack on England?

Indeed - she definitely deserves a BAFTA - and can you imagine her reaction if she got one? :D

Aw! *pets you*

I presume that's Rusty's Anglophilia talking...

*nods* Definitely, she's just been so amazing this season. And Catherine would be beyond thrilled, bless her. :)

Okay, reading back, it sounds like I'm one of those people in that article who seriously overreacted to it. I'm not, honest. I just got into the story and got mildly indignant on my country's behalf. But I, unlike the people who wrote the article, know it is only a TV show. *eyeroll* ;)

Which article?

Given Rusty's habit of insulting pretty much everyone, who wouldn't get indignant?
