I've been thinking of doing that too. But right now every muscle in my body hurts so maybe when it stops hurting... or maybe this'll be something to do when I go home for a week and don't have a gym.

So keep doing it and posting about it! It'll encourage me :-D

your posts about the crazy amount of exercise and races and things that you do always amaze me. if you can do crazy stuff like that, you can do the shred. ;)

but yes, i'll try to keep posting my experiences, i need the motivation too!

Mmm, kinda wish I'd skipped running this morning in favor of sushi. Nom.

So hey, I have been trying to figure out, and since you like hot yoga maybe you can help -- why do some people like being sweaty? (You know, ones who are better at sports and fitness than I am? ;) I hate it, but am thinking I would be better at running if I rewrote my reaction.

well, my experience is a bit different actually. i don't normally sweat - it takes a lot to get me to sweat. and i don't like heat. at all. but for some reason, hot yoga is great. maybe it's the fact that there's a whole class with me, sweating and breathing all together. maybe it's that i wear a tanktop to do yoga (i hate sweating in sleeves). it could be that i feel so good at the end of class after we've done our savasana that i know it was worth it, so then the whole experience becomes more positive.

or maybe it's that i'm insane! b/c yeah, i'm weird, i hate the heat, but i love hot yoga.

do you enjoy running? it's just the sweating that you hate?

I don't much care for running either, but I figure if I can embrace the sweat it will be more pleasant. It is just the most fitness I can pack into a short time and, with a kid, I'm more limited by time than any other factor.

(And oh, I hate heat. How interesting that you like the yoga anyway! Is it a runner's high sort of thing (I don't get those either)?)

i've never gotten a runner's high, but yoga gives me such a great feeling afterwards, maybe it's similar. i think the difference for me is in my head. when i'm running i'm just busy thinking about how unpleasant the whole experience is - i can't ever lose that.

when i do yoga, all i'm doing is focusing on my breath, and the postures. it's like moving meditation, followed by the savasana, during which i practice actual meditation, albeit while lying down. my brain is calm, i've reconnected my body and mind, and i leave all blissed out. i suppose if running gave me that feeling, i would love it too. :)

and as far as workout time goes, you should try the 30 day shred - it's 20 minutes. you give it your all for those 20, and then move on with your day. i am really liking it so far.
