five things make a post

1. Done teaching for 2010!!! Still have what feels like a year's worth of grading to do, though...

2. Last two minutes of last night's Castle: too much even by their own admittedly cheeseball standards? Was there an allusion I failed to catch?

3. Is there a Sydney Bristow vid to Dar Williams's "After All"? If not, I suspect this is a situation ( Read more... )

lie to me, sg-1, alias, castle, teaching

#3, If not, there really really needs to be. That is one of my favorite Dar songs and it just works. I think Season One was the best Sydney season so if snowed in one day, I think it would be worth it.

It's one of my favorite Dar songs, as well. I mean, it's hard to choose, but yes, this one is definitely top 5 (I think). And today it came up on my iPod and I thought, "OMG, Sydney!!!" All of it, really, but especially all the bits about truth and parents ("Sometimes I think my father, too, was a refugee"!!!!), etc.

Unfortunately, a) I don't vid, b) I have not seen the vast majority of the Sydney footage, and c) I don't particularly intend to watch most of what I haven't seen just for the purposes of making a vid that I don't know how to make anyway. I think what I really need is someone with technical skills and more familiarity with the fandom who would still let me help with storyboarding or something. (Or who would just do it awesomely, without any help from me!)

Last two minutes of last night's Castle: too much even by their own admittedly cheeseball standards?

It was the singing that put me over the edge. Not that I wasn't grinning like an idiot, mind you.

On the other hand, does this mean they are they all going to start hanging out at Castle's bar after work? More importantly, do you think Cliff and Norm will be there?

I was baffled by the singing, but I went to sleep with a smile on my face and woke up singing Billy Joel, so I'll call it a win. :)

I think it should have ended thusly: the boys start singing, then they look at Kate, who's all, "Seriously??? No." And then she starts to leave, then stops in the doorway to ask them if they're coming. Because, yes, I, too, grinned, but there was also a bit of a grimace and sense of horror about the whole part where they were all singing Billy Joel before they'd had anything to drink.

Cue the bar fics in 3, 2, 1...

I'm seriously tempted to watch much of the rest of the series just to be able to storyboard such a vid. Because the parents stuff is SO PERFECT OMG, but really, the whole song is just so very Sydney that I think it would be a shame to cut out the bit about the parents and just do that. A Jack and Irina vidlet to that verse would be awesome, but I think it would be substantially more awesome in the context of the whole.

My problem is that I know the plot well enough to be able to know what parts of the story I'd want to reference when (the depression stuff largely early season 3, perhaps, dealing with the missing years? and the Jack and Irina stuff is obvious, followed by Sydney's dogged optimism, and When you live in a world, it gets in to who you thought you'd be for, like, Sydney's entire life as a spy) but I don't know it visually at all, and verbal plot summary doesn't work in a vid ( ... )
