Have yesterday and today together:

Day 08 - A show everyone should watch

I think I will try to take that "everyone" as literally as possible and go for the show I think is both awesome and has wide appeal. There are a number of shows that I think people who like certain kinds of television would love and should watch (Farscape, for instance, for ( Read more... )

Hee! I actually think the handling of Castle's immature streak is one of the best examples of how this show treats him like an adult. Because he does have this hyper, childish enthusiasm, but not all the time. He knows when to turn it off, and he can be serious when it's called for. Most importantly, he's never immature in his relationships with other people. ;)

I think the final five minutes or so of that episode may well be the best scene of any show I've ever seen.

Definitely awesome, but when I saw your post, I thought you were going to go with the "Bartlett calls God a feckless thug and shows off speaking Latin" scene, which made me kick myself for forgetting that scene when I put together my own post on this question. But yeah, you're right... pretty much everything is done perfectly in the closing scene.

I'll agree with grav_ity about how well everything comes together in that last montage. The church scene is a great individual character scene, and certainly one of the great scenes in this show, but it doesn't, at least for me, have quite the quintessential quality that this one does. This scene manages to capture so much of what the whole show is about and to do it so subtly, using a variety of techniques.

But I would not think it at ALL odd for someone to prefer the church scene in this context, because it's also an excellent and tremendously memorable scene. :)

Hmm, Castle. I recently discovered potential procedural buttons, so I may have to stick with it after Detective Anders has his run. ;) It's awfully charming.

And shoooow! That scenes is such a good example of how good TWW really is. It can still render me completely speechless at its best with almost every single character.

(Why are you making me want to watch/re-watch everything in this meme? :p)

Oh, do stick with Castle!!! It kind of sneaks up on you: it looks like your average procedural, and then you get sucked in with the charm and the really clever writing, and then, perhaps after you've been watching a while, you sit back and think, "the characterization and writing on this show is actually really good!" Because it is. In a very careful, subtle, not-flashy way. And even though the show-runner is a man (and I don't know about the male-female composition of the writing staff) and the titular character is a man, this show does a better job with female characters than most others I can think of. And especially within its genre.

And oh yes, TWW!!!!!!!!! *loves*

Man I love that series - so very very much.

EDIT _ Although they go the wrong freaking route back to the White House and it drives me bonkers.
