Узбекский плов это как русская пицаа. Давно ли узбеки узнали что такое рис?

Рис выращивают в ура тюбе, в фирганской долине.
Или плов придумали китайцы ?))

Always stay in your hotel room. Don't even think to eat anything. Beware locals.

Haha! And what would be the point in traveling half way around the world to stay in a hotel room, fear locals and not eat? :)) I do not live life in constant fear...no matter where I am on the globe.

There is no point in travelling at all! You can watch video on youtube, read wiki and eat that greasy pilaf at nearest uzbek shack in the US if you want. which i don't recommend!

So, how am I supposed to pass away all my years of existence? Travel is enlightening and there are no human connections made by simply turning the pages of the book. This must be experienced in the flesh! :)

Bring cash, check with locals on how to change it.
Fly business class for 20$, but do not expect any catering.
Ride business class on high speed trains for 8$, but expect 3 levels of security to pass.

However, great food, extreme hospitality and beauty awaits you there, so definitely worth a trip.

Thank you for the sensible comment. I will take a flight on Uzbek Airlines and also travel on the local trains! Looking forward to it.

Do not expect much from Uzbek trains, last time I heard it was quite bad. Alas, things may change for the better?

Khiva is sity must see. Fortress wall around with gates are still intact.
Traditional handmade silk fabrics of Marghilon are unique.

How much would locals pay for one of those lovely silk scarves? The main thing is to not be ripped off as a tourist.

I think, lovely scarf costs about $20..$40

Unfortunately I do not know. Traditionally I get them as a gift. But as well as I know price isn't too high and for tourists too.

never been there, so no insights, sorry. but I like the photo, the colors look promising. and I'm definitely looking forward to reading the report. are you going to have to wear some sort of head scarf or babushka?

Based on what friends tell me who have traveled there, it is not necessary to wear a head covering unless you're visiting one of the religious sites. I know several women who have been there, and none of them covered their head. I will be prepared though. :)
