Well, the moment has finally come, and I don't know how I feel about it.

Oh wait, I read Ringworld and that was neat. It felt really dated but it was good.

And yeah, Ringworld was good. Actually, just about every Known Space story is good, but I didn't like the 3rd Ringworld novel - too many fucking characters, they hunted vampires through half the book, and I didn't really give a shit about vampires. Bah. When I see a "cast of characters" in the beginning of a book, I automatically assume that I'll probably hate it.

I think I'm just going to skip 3/4ths of it, and read the ending, so I can try the fourth book.

I trust republicans as far as I can throw them and believe me, I throw them often to evaluate the exact distances.

Note that being republican and voting republican are two different things - a very good friend of mine (who I hope will leave a big, long comment that will escalate into some sort of debate) is financially conservative, so he votes republican on a bunch of stuff, and we all kick him in the balls for it. I don't know anything about economics, so I just vote for whoever has the coolest sounding name.

Can you post the link to the original article?
And one argument for screening for adoption and not birth that comes to mind is that you can screen for adoption, so why not? You can't control people getting pregnant or not. It is pretty weird to think about, though. But in our society you have a lot of sway as a "biological parent." And if you are going to allow people to take in a child that isn't their own, you should probably be careful about it even if you can't control people giving birth in the first place.

But I was referring to the comment I posted first, in which I explained why screening for adoption but not birth makes sense. You can't control people getting pregnant through fucking in the sense that you can control who adopts. It doesn't have anything to do with what any of us think should be. Right now, that's how it is. I think you know what I meant.
