you wanted the best ...you got KISS

So, I have been a huge dork of a KISS fan my entire life. My dad took me to see them on the "Rock And Roll Over" tour in 1977 ....I was 3.

I still am and will always be a huge fan, but here is the review of the new KISS album "Monster" I sent to a couple of other dorks I know.

Good to see you post by the way. I just spent an hour or so this morning dropping Pansy Division/Dirty Power posters into Second Life for the walls of the quasi-Hole in the Wall I've been farting around with.
Still wear the Dirty Power tee as well.

yeah, the new album is just an uninspired snooze fest ....and Pauls voice is just shot.

but check it out ....May 1st 1976 at the Hammersmith Odeon

a rare instance where they played "Flaming Youth" live, and at those shows, the band played in their new Destroyer costumes though the new stage set was the same as they had been using for the last few tours.... so the pics from that show always look weird.

That's what confused me...the stage set. As it was, it was even more basic because UK fire regulations were rather prim.
I seem to think I remeber Flaming Youth. My dead dandy mate Sebastian was there and we were made up because it was our favourite song.
We were, of course, Flaming Youth.
Just got back from the gym and an hour of the buggers. Kiss that is, not the shaved and preening muscle bunnies.

Dude, you nailed it. \m/

I, um, downloaded this the other day and gave it a quick listen. To me, it's an amalgam of any number of hard rock/hair band schtick, more like rock and roll salt water taffy with a thin plastic Kiss wrapper around it. Not objectionable, but nothing that wasn't done a thousand times before and lacking any punch that Kiss was known for in the early days. Everyone knows that Kiss has been corporate since the start, but this is just playing it safe. I can only imagine the focus groups and controlled testing behind the scenes. X-D

yeah, my dad took me and my two brothers (both 10 years older than me) to see KISS and Uriah Heep: January 11 1977 at Tingley Coliseum, Albuquerque, NM.

I was already a bigger fan of the band than both my bros. I can honestly say that the one moment that literally shaped my entire life........

after seeing the Paul Lynde Halloween Special I was doomed ....by rock and by cock!

It baffles me that Gene Simmons use of pun and idiom has not advanced. By this point he should be able to spout euphemisms that unravel like Merlin casting a magic spell. The sex puns should bounce off the mind like an MC Escher drawing, I mean they've had the time to perfect it. Unfortunately he's maintained the mental gymnastics of a hardcore Anime fan who was smart enough to have graduated early but can barely brag about not being a virgin ( ... )

I feel you about the destroyer package. What a boring bust that was. Maybe they just figured it wouldn't be profitable to do four discs. Who knows? Everything that was going to be on the 4cd set has been released anyway, right?

Actually there are a whole mess of demos from that time that have never been properly released. I think only two of them ended up on the box. And apparently there was a song called "Ain't None Of Your Business" that was recorded for Destroyer. Hell, they could have added the mono 45 mix for "Detroit Rock City" which is completely different than the album ......the car crash happens in the middle of the song ( ... )
