Just back from the grocery store with spaghetti fixings. My brother and nieces are coming over this afternoon for Speed Racer and dinner. Now I have to vacuum. Tika will not be pleased (she hates the vacuum).

When I woke up this morning, I regretted a little extending my stay - starting to miss my cat & familiar surroundings a little, and not sure what I'd do after the whale-watching trip. But now I'm glad I stayed - hurrying to the Winchester Mystery House & home this afternoon would have been very anticlimactic.

Going whale-watching in a few minutes. I'm going to walk down to the wharf since I don't have to check out of the hotel first. I checked in Thursday after lunch - they've seen a lot of humpback whales and a few orcas this week, so it should be good, and the weather looks nice this morning - foggy, but no rain ( Read more... )

Back after a very full day - hiking at Point Lobos, visiting the mission at Carmel, tour of the exotic animal ranch near Salinas, and lunch on Old Fisherman's Wharf back in Monterey, plus a quick history walk up to the old jail, which I finally got inside, although it's really nothing special ( Read more... )

Double-checked on driving times, and everything looks good - Point Lobos is under 20 minutes from my hotel, and the exotic animals ranch is about 30 minutes the other way. Heading out for breakfast & hiking.

I think what I'll do is get an early start Thursday and do some morning hiking at Point Lobos, possibly stopping at the mission in Carmel if I have time, then plan to go to the 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. Wild Things walk at the exotic animals ranch.
