I think what I'll do is get an early start Thursday and do some morning hiking at Point Lobos, possibly stopping at the mission in Carmel if I have time, then plan to go to the 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. Wild Things walk at the exotic animals ranch. Then I'll probably still have time to hit the Old Monterey jail and other historic sites before dark. I'll check out Friday as planned, go whale-watching, and then take a tour at the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose on the way home. If necessary, I'll have time to do the historic Monterey sites Friday after the whale-watching trip, since the Winchester Mystery House is open until 7 p.m.
