Back after a very full day - hiking at Point Lobos, visiting the mission at Carmel, tour of the exotic animal ranch near Salinas, and lunch on Old Fisherman's Wharf back in Monterey, plus a quick history walk up to the old jail, which I finally got inside, although it's really nothing special

Have you been to San Simeon/Hearst Castle before? It is absolutely amazing, and well worth the trip, if you have the time.

I haven't been to San Simeon, it's about 90 miles away - too far for a day trip from Monterey, at least for me since I live in California & can take a separate vacation trip over there any time.
