Where Are the Other Gears? [Carmine, Open]

Mar 30, 2007 09:54

Who: Carmine, Open
What: Carmine enters Paradisa and notices his COG tags are missing. (Oh noes!)
When: Afternoon
Where: Courtyard, outside
Rating: PG-13 (for cursing likely)

Carmine complained somewhat loudly about his gun to Lieutenant Kim. It kept jamming on him during battle. He was fiddling with the barrel, leaning in closer to Kim to show the lieutenant when suddenly everything went black.

Carmine blinked hazily and sat up carefully. His head hurt like hell for a few moments then faded away to a dull ache. He ignored it and searched for the attacker. The COG soldier vaguely recalled a cracking sound before being hit, probably a sniper's round going off. If there was a sniper around, Delta Squad would need to take it out and take it out quick--before it took them out first.

Shaking his head clear, Carmine got to his feet a little unsteadily at first. He ducked behind the nearest cover and looked around. Blinking, Carmine considered taking off his helm so he could rub his eyes, but that was just too much trouble in a possible hostile situation. Instead he shook his head again and blinked rapidly a few times.

No change.

Wherever Carmine was now, it was certainly not where he had started off from just seconds ago. He looked around the courtyard--like all courtyards it had the same basic structure and so looked somewhat familiar. However, here everything was perfectly intact. Unlike where he had come from previously.

Private Carmine narrowed his eyes and continued to gawk at his surroundings. There was also a castle near him, which technically shouldn't have surprised him so much. There had been a large, castle-like structure nearby in the first place. It was were they had been headed. This place was different though. It wasn't crumbling, it was much larger, and it had a different building style. Besides--it wasn't crumbling. Which was to say it was free of Locust induced harm and that was unheard of on Sera.

That was when it occurred to him. Where was Lieutenant Kim? Dom and Marcus? None of the other gears were with him. This was definitely not where he had been previously. Hell, where this even Sera anymore? He certainly wondered.

Nervous, uncertain whether there were Locust in this place or not, Carmine reached up with one hand idly and groped around for his COG tags. He stopped searching after a moment, frowned, and looked down, tilting his head a bit to see around his helmet.

They were gone!

His precious COG tags were MIA. What the hell? Where had he lost them? They couldn't have simply fallen off in the last major battle, could they've? They were securely attached around his neck. He checked after ever battle. They had been there just moments ago. Where were they!

Grieving, Carmine looked around again. He didn't see any shiny, blue-metal, gear-shaped pendants around. They certainly weren't here. What if he died and no one knew who he was because he didn't have his COG tags? He didn't know what was worse--dying, or dying without his COG tags to identify his body.

Odd, he knew. Still.

Sighing deeply, determined to find either his tags or his team, or better yet both, he slinked his way over to the next nearest cover. He kept a sharp eye out for any Locust and searched for his tags, as well as his team members. He headed for the castle structure to look for a way in.
