Lente's Point Expedition - Day 3 (A Discussion)

Jun 16, 2011 20:26

[Lente looks oddly passive, her expression completely blank. Human emotions are exhausting to convey, and she has grown tired of trying after just one morning. These people are curious and blundering, perhaps to bit too eager to please, and liable to put themselves in danger in the future. Despite rumours of their experiences, they still seem to ( Read more... )

[Rin comes right over, eyes already wide and attentive. Finally! This is what they've really come for.]

... Is this open questions first? Or do you have some things in mind?

[She turns her reddish eyes to Rin, calmly.]

I would like to know why you all want to leave the castle.

... For me, I guess, there's stuff out here that might shed some light on the castle, how it works, and why we're all here. I really want to meet some of the people living out here too, like the Giovani, or any others that we might not have heard of. And I want to know more about the former residents who live here too. They must have had reasons for leaving, and maybe they're good ones, if they're still out here after who knows how long.

What's more, people have told me that the castle is a place of darkness - or evil, I guess. And I know it toys with us. I know people feel trapped... and it's not always bad, but really in its way I guess it is a kidnapper that traps us and plays with us. I don't trust it and I don't think most residents really do... though I can't speak for everyone.

[Slow nod.]

Fair enough.

[glance around]

And the rest?

[a pause as he considers]

I admit have a lot of questions but...are there any questions you want to ask of us first?

[It's only polite after all]

I wish to know what you hope to find out here.

[Okay...that was to the point;]

Answers that can maybe one day lead to a way for people to choose their own paths again, whether it to be to stay here or return to their worlds. So we're no longer being shoved around by the whims of this world.

I don't expect there to be a gate with an exit sign or an ancient tome or for any of you to have the answer. But...when staying near the castle isn't providing answers, why not look out here for even the smallest of clues?

Seeking answers despite known truths is a trait many youth bear. It is admirable, when you are still young.

[ standing nearby ]

What's the longest amount of time that a person's spent in this world? That you're aware of, anyway.

Many decades. I believe it is eighty years.

And yourself?

I no longer remember, but I believe it is close to that.

How much of this land have you explored yourself? Or if there are others that have.

Few have left this continent, but we have filled in the map of this land nicely. There are few places we have no trod upon.

[ he pauses. he has so many questions but... one at a time. ]

"We"... How many of you were there before us? We're somewhere around three hundred residents, I believe.

I could no sooner number the others than you could number those who have been through Paradisa in your time. The number was great, however -- in the thousands.

[Pff, young girl is young, but she's wants to know this anyway] Do you think it's a good idea for us to keep coming out here on these expeditions? Should we stay back at the castle, where it's... well, not safe, but maybe safer?

[A thoughtful pause.]

I believe the world is more dangerous than it was when I first set out to explore. Now, it is a matter of which danger you would sooner face.

Did bad things happen once a month when you were at the castle, too? Or does it just want to play with us? [Tilting her head to the side]

I could not say whether it intends to "play", but it has always been up to tricks.
