  • No callback for me.

    papagenopj Mar 08, 2008 12:38

    Went into the MUNY auds this morning. Sang for someone other than Paul Blake (who I guess I somewhat impressed last year--but was hearing the other half of the singers). After singing through my 16 bars, the casting guy merely said "Thank You" and I was outta there. So, no callback for me. I'll be fine. Should hear from Union Avenue within a ( Read more... )

  • Happy Leap Day (or "Pirates of Penzance" Day)

    papagenopj Feb 29, 2008 13:28

    Today, Feb 29, is Leap Day...which only occurs once every four years. I immediately connected today's significance to the Gilbert & Sullivan operetta The Pirates of Penzance, wherein the lead tenor, Frederic, has just turned 21 years old--a milestone which frees him from his duty of serving with a band of pirates. However, since he was born in a ( Read more... )

    The MUNY has announced (via its website) three of its seven summer shows: Fiddler on the Roof, Miss Saigon and The Producers. The first one gives me a good reason to audition...the second one will be an excuse to bring back Eric Kunze...and the third one--fun as it is--will be censored to death, mark my words. Looking forward to what else we can ( Read more... )

  • 2007: The Year that Was...

    papagenopj Dec 30, 2007 12:51

    2007 is about to give way to 2008...so let's take a look back, shall we?

    The month of January was quite sobering, as I lost a family member. It was a mix of sorrow yet some relief for the departed. Also, I saw a very disappointing Turandot with Andrea Gruber--who was 100 different kinds of ungracious onstage...

    ...but in February I was treated ( Read more... )

  • What's that? Another movie musical at Xmastime?!?

    papagenopj Dec 27, 2007 01:22

    Gee, Hollywood really loves the musicals more than they did in the 80s and 90s. It seems there's a new one (or two) out every year lately. This year, we were given a double whammy with Hairspray in July and Sweeney Todd this Holiday season. I'm a huge fan of Sweeney Todd as you may well know. On Halloween during my Junior Year of College, I was ( Read more... )

  • My Chicago Adventure{?}

    papagenopj Dec 21, 2007 18:54

    Well folks, the whirlwind{?} trip to Chicago is over, and I'm back in Saint Louis.

    For the first three hours in Chicago, I did a lot of wandering, had something to eat, and did a bit of window shopping (almost got myself a German-import scarf, but changed my mind...in hindsight, that was a good decision{?}). Once I'd purged a good deal of ( Read more... )
