NEW COMICS NO, NOT STEPHANIE BROWN AGAIN

Batman and Robin #4: JASON TODD. I am so happy that Grant Morrison decided to keep the Todd around for a villain, because he really makes a great one (sometimes). His first run as the Red Hood was le awesome king, so this pleases me already. Also, his crazy bitch friend is crazy. I absolutely adore the way Morrison writes Jason, with his silly ( Read more... )

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say "Warrior Sue."

I can't think of any DC characters I honeslty consider Sues, but Stephanie Brown is pretty close. Young girl, lovely, knows kung fu, Robin's girlfriend, becomes Robin, "escapes to Africa", comes back, fights crime and is sarcastic and funny and strong-willed and totesbadass, becomes Batgirl.

Her only saving grace was that "escapes to Africa" used to be "fucked up trying to impress Batman and dies".

Remind me to never introduce you to nevermore999. That series is kind of meh to me. Babs is better as Oracle and a healthy dose of inspiration to boot. Having her become Batgirl again robs everything that made her a force to be reckoned with. I don't mind Steph, but hey she could've been a female verison of Nightwing. (WHAT THAT? YES, I DO PREFER CASS AS BATGIRL) But

So Jason is dead (the smart half of Firestorm)...-sighs-

DP is ALWAYS LOL

Sadly, both Marvel and DC are bugging me for some reason lately.

Yeah, I wouldn't go for Babs being Batgirl. It would feel like a big step back for her character IMO. And even though I don't really care for Cass as a character, I liked her being Batgirl better, even if it didn't make very much sense. Gail Simone had a pretty sweet idea for her, but she didn't pitch it, and they never made it :(

But eh, Stephanie being Batgirl doesn't work either, really. I mean, she "fled to Africa" because she royally screwed up as Robin once, and only did the gang war shit to prove herself to Batman. Having her put on the Batgirl costume makes it seem like she learned nothing, or doesn't care.

Naw, Gen died. Jason is stuck in the zombie Firestorm's head.

The writer did say that Cass was going to show up in the series later, but I guess that's a moot point with her.

I like Cass, for what it's worth, and I have little opinion about Stephanie Brown. I think they ushered her in because bringing back Babs was too problematic and Cass is radioactive right now. And probably no one else qualified |:

Yeah, I read a little blurb about it. They couldn't think of anyone else to be Batgirl at the mo', so they picked Spoiler. What I want to know is why they had to pick a new Batgirl at all. They're already juggling an entire new Bat team, who're so caught up in their own business it would be weird to ALSO have Stephanie be Batgirl. Especially since she only really showed up in The Network, which had Cass Batgirl, and Red Robin because of Tim Drake, in which she was Spoiler.
