A/N: Hey I finally got them talking to each other. All mistakes belong to me. Unlike the characters. Enjoy we're almost done.
The next couple of weeks went by fairly quick. Krite's seemed to be taking her warning to heart. She hoped it would last. She had stopped avoiding Paige. They even eat lunch together when they could. She knew things weren't perfect. They could still piss the other off. And did at least once a day. At least they were trying to rebuild their friendship. They had managed to catch each up a little on their lives. She found she loved watching Paige talk about A.J. her face would light up and nothing could dim it when she was on the subject of her son. By some unspoken agreement neither one brought up their past or the weeks before they started talking to one another. Alex knew that this was a temporary peace, she was just loathe to break it. A large part of her was still angry with Paige, and it came out at times. And the small part that could yell very loud, just said to say the hell with the past. Fight for her and win her back. Problem was she didn't know who she would have to fight. And as the week went on she discovered it was herself she'd have to fight. Was it worth it. And that little part would yell real loud,Hell Yes.
"So Paige, have you meet Marco's boyfriend Justin?"
"No, I don't seem to be able to find the time to get over there."
"Has he invited you to dinner next week?"
Paige looked up from the papers she had been grading.
"No, I haven't talked to him in about a week."
"He's invited me to their house warming. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I brought you. I mean it's been awhile since you've seen Marco and Justin's great."
"I don't know Alex."
"Its not a date Paige. Just two friends going to see another friend. Anyway their be other people there."
Paige just sat thinking about what Alex had said. Just friends.
"You can even drive so you can make a quick get away if you need to."
Alex was wondering if she had made a mistake about this. She had drove her car over to Paige's and left it, so Paige could take hers. She had barely gotten parked when Paige came put out the door. They had then got in her car and left. And twenty minutes later neither one had said a word more than Hi, How are you,Great,Fine. Why couldn't she just let the past go. Cause Paige hurt you, you shit. And you hurt her. This was a mistake, a real big one.
At last Paige pulled into Marco's driveway. Alex was so glad to get there, she got out of the car before Paige had finished parking or turning the ignition off.
"Alex what's your problem?"
"Sorry Paige, I was just. I don't know nervous maybe."
"About what my driving. I'm not that bad. I haven't even had another accident since I wrecked Spinner's car."
"I know. It was nothing I'm sorry."
As Alex went to knock on the door, it swung open.
"Great. You both made it in one piece I see. And no blood either. That's a bonus."
"Ha Ha very funny Marco."
"Knew you would appreciate the humor Alex."
Turning to Paige he kissed her cheek and hugged her tightly.
"Well time has agreed with you. I'm so glad your here Paige."
"Me too Marco, me too."
"Well don't just stand there. Come in. Justin's almost got dinner ready. So I'll give you a quick tour."
As Alex followed Marco and Paige, she prayed for the night to go quick.

A/N: I swear there should only be one more part after this. But I might have some short fill in pieces. Hope you enjoy.
Paige couldn't believe how well things were going. Krite was leaving her alone. She was able to talk to Alex without it leading to world war three. Her studies where going fine. A.J. had some new play buddies from daycare. She knew on the surface everything was great. Her and Alex were trying. She didn't know what she wanted except to have Alex's friendship back. But they both were refusing to talk about the past. She knew sooner or later they would have to deal with it.
Shit why had she said yes to this. This was going to be a monumental mistake. Her parents had gotten a cheesy grin on their face's when she told the she was going to Marco's house for dinner with Alex. Over and over she had told them it was not a date, just dinner, They just nodded their heads and said OK Paige. Her parents could be so exasperating. And now she couldn't find the shoe's she wanted to wear. Why was this starting to feel like a date. It was not a date. She would just keep telling herself that. It was not a date.
She had rushed out the as soon as Alex had pulled into the drive. She hadn't wanted her parents to talk with Alex. She really didn't like the way they had been talking about Alex earlier.
The drive had been one of the longest in her life. In the twenty minutes it took her to drive to Marco's they said maybe ten words to each other. God this night was going to be a disaster. As soon as she had pulled into Marco's drive Alex jumped out of the car. Well maybe not jumped but the effect was the same.
"Alex what's your problem?"
"Sorry Paige, I just. I don't know, nervous maybe."
Trying to lighten the mood and not seem upset with Alex she replied."About my driving, I'm not that bad. I haven't had another accident since I wrecked Spinner's car."
"I know. It was nothing. I'm sorry."
Marco opening the door saved them from further conversation.
Marco looked good and his house was great. Paige decide she was definitely jealous.
"Marco, its wonderful. How did you ever find this."
"Lots of looking. We had almost given up when the realtor showed us this place. So you really like it?"
"I do."
"Hey Marco," called out Alex from the deck. "I thought this was supposed to be a house warming party. So where's everyone else. And don't tell me we're early."
Marco cleared his throat and looked shyly at Paige as Alex walked back in from outside.
"Well actually the house warming was two nights ago. And before you say anything Alex, I figured you would back out again. So when we changed the day I just didn't tell you. Then you called and told me that Paige would be coming with you. So Justin and I decided we would just fix dinner for the two of you plus us."
She just stood there and stared at Marco. What was it with everyone. They all seemed to be determined to make tonight more than it was.
"Marco,"said Alex. "I told Paige was just driving me. We aren't."
"I know, I know. And don't say any thing Paige. The two of you are not together. But I was not about to give up the chance to see you both just because you thought this might look like a date."
"Hey you three,"said Justin as he walked out of the dinning area."Dinner's ready and waiting."
"Oh thank you. Your a life saver baby,"said Marco as he walked toward Justin."Lets eat you two."
Dinner had been great. Justin was a wonderful cook. And he had managed to keep the conversation at the table going. Now they were outside on the deck enjoying the cool evening.
"So Paige how are you liking teaching?" asked Justin.
"I'm enjoying it a lot. It wasn't something I ever thought about doing. But I like it."
"What about you Alex. Marco tells me you weren't the greatest student."
"No I guess I wasn't. I needed something to do once I got out of the Army. And well I figured I owed it to all my past teachers. After my first year i realized I really enjoyed teaching."
Paige smirked and looked at Alex.
"I just never thought this would be something you would do Alex. Maybe become a tattoo artist. Not a teacher."
"So disappointed I didn't become a tattoo artist."
She looked directly into Alex's eye's and smiled.
"No. I knew you would find something you liked. And you did. You just needed time. And any way if you had been a tattoo artist you would have been great."
When Alex smiled back she thought maybe the night wasn't going to be so bad after all.
