Character(s): Ansem and Yorda Content: Ansem takes Geoffrey up on his offer. Setting: Spira, Macalania Woods Time: Evening, Week 35 Warnings: BILLY ZANE Ansem.
Once he'd known where the girl had been intending to go, it had been child's play for Ansem to keep an eye on her. Darkness was commonplace in this world, but darkness and light walking side-by-side was a good deal less so. He had spotted what seemed to be the heart of his former host, however. Perhaps later he would need to speak to the boy again. After all, it would be interesting to see how he'd fared since last the two of them spoke

Yorda looked up at the stranger, offering a quiet smile in greeting. "It is not as dangerous as some of the other places here," she replied. They were near the heart of the forest, close to the lake in Macalania woods. Fiends, it seemed, were rarely inclined to travel in this direction. It was a good thing, too; Yorda was not one who was well-suited for fights, and her feet were still adjusting to the feel of boots around them.
The glowing girl stood up, drawing closer to the man with such odd eyes, curious. "Who are you?" she asked him. She had hardly seen anyone on her way to the woods, and no sign of Mao, which worried her, but surely he would show up sooner or later. If worst came to worst, she could always look for him.
There was a brief moment of silence, as Ansem mentally sized up Yorda. It was already clear that she either couldn't sense the darkness within him or had absolutely no sense of self-preservation. But even more than that she was frail. It wouldn't be the least bit of trouble to carry her off. Better still if she could get her to walk willingly with him into the darkness.
For some reason, the other man gave Yorda a strange sense of unease. Perhaps it was the way his eyes were watching Yorda, so reminiscent of her mother, who had watched her with the same calculating gaze. Even so, the girl mentally steeled herself, not budging from her place. Mao needed her, and he had decided to meet her here. She wasn't about to let him down.
"I am Yorda," she replied, eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of Mao.
"A pleasure to meet you," Ansem answered, with a brief nod. "May I join you for a moment?"
The moment needn't be long, of course. But it wouldn't hurt. He didn't have to be uncouth in his making off with people. As a matter of fact, he rather prided himself on not doing so. It created another level of difference between himself and the darknesses he ruled over. That and further information could hardly hurt matters any.

"Ansem," he answered simply.
