Knowing the right people? Asking the right questions? It seemed too simple. No one ever gave information out freely. You had to give something up or trick them into saying what you needed to know. Then again, he was dealing with humans, which would probably explain why this man thought information was so easy to come by.

"And you're one of those people?"

And now the boy was interested. He'd have to play this delicately, but it was more than doable.

"I can be," came the simple reply. "If you think that's the question you should be asking."

"You are." He was getting somewhere now, even if he was starting to get frustrated by the way the man kept skirting around the answers Mao wanted. At least he had someone to interrogate now, someone who wash't that damn cockroach so-called-Overlord.

"What do you know about this city?"

He was catching on, but just barely, and Luxord was not a fan of the direct approach.

"Everything." The matter-of-fact statement was a fantastic bluff, meant to get the kid to stop thinking in straight lines and move towards curves and circles. After all, someone who only saw straight lines would be useless to him.

Everything... Even the cockroach hadn't known that much. Unless this was some kind of bluff. Well, he already knew he was trapped here. If that kid was trapped too, he didn't have any reason to lie about that, so he could skip that question. But some of what that human boy had said... That he could use more information on.

"I've heard there are these... shadow-things around here somewhere. Tell me more about them. What are they? What can they do? Where can I find one? Tell me everything you know!"

He paused a moment. "And where I could find somewhere to stay." Maybe a drill, too, but he'd wait for that until he found a good place to put a lab.
