Character(s): Mao, anyone else?
Content: Mao arrives in Paixao
Setting: Vanaheim Gate
Time: Early Afternoon, week seven
Warnings: The first of many Mao warnings. Also tl;dr intro.
The moment Mao stepped through, it became obvious that this wasn’t where he wanted to be. “What the…? This isn’t--!” He didn’t remember any part of the campus that looked like this. Sure, it was always expanding, but he was pretty sure it would have heard if a strange, sparkling place had suddenly popped up. Rumors traveled fast, after all.
Wait a minute… where was Almaz? Princess? Hadn’t Beryl come with him too? “What is this, some kind of joke?! You better get out here if you know what’s good for you!” he snapped. The young Overlord’s scowl deepened as he was met with silence. “Do you think you’re being funny?! I said get out here! Now!” he yelled again, his hands balling into fists.
Silence.
“…Hmph.” Looked like they weren’t here after all. He attempted to get the gatekeeper’s attention, only to meet with as much success as his attempts to call for his slaves.
He was going to kill that prinny whenever he got back.
For now, it looked like there was nothing left to do but explore the area and find out where he’d been dumped. Mao walked around for awhile, stopping as he came to a line. What were all these people waiting for? He stepped past them all toward the front of the line, ignoring their indignant cries. Didn’t they know? Any demon worth anything knew how to cut in line. It was a basic skill! And why should he have to wait anyway?
“Welcome to Paixao!” The voice made Mao pause and look back. Who had said that?
“Huh?”
“Welcome to Paixao!” the woman repeated cheerfully.
Mao eyed her suspiciously. There was something off about this person. She seemed too… happy. But he doubled back, anyway. The woman had a name for this place. Maybe she would have more information, too. “Who are you?”
“May I have your name please?”
“I asked you first!”
The woman frowned, somewhat confused. “Um… I need your name, sir, or you won’t be able to go in.”
Go in? Go in where? ...Oh. Mao looked back at the line and then up at the large gate the people were filing into. So all these people were waiting to go inside? What inside was so important? And all he needed to do to see what was going on was give his name? "...Mao," the young Overlord finally replied.
The gatekeeper nodded and wrote the name down before handing a journal--silver--and some pamphlets to Mao. "Enjoy your stay!"
Mao stared at the items suspiciously. That was it? No more questions asked? This had to be some sort of trick! And yet... it didn't seem like anything was about to explode or spontaneously combust... Oh? What was this? The young Overlord made a noncommital grunt in response to the gatekeeper's insistence that he head inside, but did so anyway, his attention completely focused on the device that had been given to him.
The pamphlets had already been discarded.
