Character(s): Rabi and Allen. Content: Meeting up again (after the crack post on the message boards). Setting: O Pastor. Time: Wednesday morning. Warnings: None.
Allen had been sitting in the lobby for hours now, and damn, he haven't gotten any sleep at all. He was too excited knowing that he would meet his friend, Rabi, again, after being separated for GOD knows how long. Maybe just a few days, but to him, it seemed like years. He have met so many people in such a short amount of time that it seemed like forever
( ... )
The first thing Rabi felt when he came to was a pair of hands shaking him violently... and, for a few seconds, he let whoever was shaking him continue to do so, his head bobbing back and forth with each movement. It wasn't until the voice registered in his head - and the little Bookmen spinning around him disappeared - that his eye widened and focused in on the boy in front of him.
Since he had known beforehand that Allen was going to be there, he wasn't too surprised to see said beansprout trying to wake him up, but that didn't mean he wasn't happy about it. Rabi flashed him one of those trademark grins that would make even the fabled Cheshire Cat jealous, but in his current state, he looked more like a dog who had just spent an hour chasing his tail and had enjoyed every second of it.
Allen's short term embarrassment ceased as the other smiled at him, in that lighthearted way---always. The white haired boy, through the slight confusion (and the horrendous amount of weird stares), found himself smiling right back, head tilting to a side as he did so.
"It's Allen!" he said, half laughing. He was too caught up with happiness to be all obsessive compulsive over the petnames nicknames of his. "Of course I missed you! I thought I was here alone..." Allen trailed off, a little sad expression flashed on his face before returning to its happy self. "But now you're here!"
He pushed himself up to a standing position, holding out a helping hand to the elder of the two, smiling.
At first, Rabi just stared at the hand offered to him. Aww, he had to stand up now, didn't he? Still a little dizzy from tumbling into the establishment, the redhead took that hand and used it to pull himself to his feet... a bit too fast, really. He realized only after having pulled himself up with this sudden burst of energy that he wasn't quite ready to stand just yet, and if it weren't for Allen, he would've fallen over again. Instead, he used the younger boy as support, one arm slung around his shoulders in a half-hug, half-keep-me-up-please.
"'course I am!" he said, that lopsided grin never fading. "I was afraid you wouldn't be... you know, since you have a girlfriend now and all."
Did he honestly think Allen had a girlfriend? No, but he loved to tease him, and he wasn't going to let him live that one down.
Maybe giving the other a helping hand wasn't the smartest of ideas, for the other pulled himself up more than he did trying to help him up, and the sudden burst of energy caught him off guard to a high degree. If it weren't for the wall behind him, he would fallen along with Rabi, and the mess would've been much more than it is now. Thank God for the wall.
He continued supporting the other, since Rabi seemed to be in some lack of energy after all of that, and so he decided to give a silent agreement of holding on to the other... but only until the older man find himself the energy to support on his own, because this was really getting uncomfortable, especially with the many stares they were given. Allen was never the type to like too much attention when not needed.
As soon as Rabi gave the mention of his 'girlfriend', or in other words, Lady, he immediately blushed, cutting a line through the silent agreement as he shoved the other away. "She is not my girlfriend!" He scolded, eyes twitching.
Rabi stumbled back a few steps, managing to catch himself before he fell. For a few seconds, he tried to regain his balance, then moved towards Allen again, reaching out a hand to ruffle the boy's hair.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" he laughed. Sure, he still felt a little dizzy from all the movement, but it was so worth it, if only to see the blush on Allen's face. Having taunted him over the journals just couldn't compare to embarrassing him in person. "Lighten up a little, will you? You're starting to act more like Yuu."
Except Allen wouldn't make death threats after each of Rabi's little jokes. That was probably for the best.
"So!" he began, stretching his arms out over his head. "What have you been doing here, anyway? Doesn't look like there's much to do unless you've got money on you..."
Which, of course, he didn't have. As he remembered this, his stomach growled. Bah. He should've stolen some of the food from that cart he ran into. Nobody would miss a few squashed tomatoes.
At the comparison, Allen's little spasm attack slowed faded to curiosity, head lowering a little as the other ruffled his already-messed up hair. "Kanda?" He tilted his head to a side, frowning. "I'm not anything like him!" Then comes the pout from a (not so) typical (around) fifteen year old boy, his arms crossing above his chest.
"I'm here to sleep, of course," he said as if it was the most obvious of things. "I've already slept outside once, and it was freezing. Miss Lady lent me some money, along with the fact that I had something on me that was actually worth something..." He trailed off, one of his hands rested on his chin as he thought on, which was interrupted by a growl. "...Are you hungry?" Hey, it was a good start for a conversation. ...Almost.
Well, at least he thought he looked like Yuu. The pout kind of proved him wrong. Rabi laughed, his voice loud enough to make people stare (as if they weren't staring before...) and patted Allen on the head, messing his hair up even more.
"I hear that," he said, at the mention of sleeping outside. The little corner he'd found pressed up against a wall wasn't too comfortable. When Allen said he'd sold something, Rabi perked up, curious as to what this something was. However, before he could ask, the boy changed the subject.
"Uh... yeah, sort of." His stomach growled on cue, indicating that "sort of" really meant "starving." He frowned and patted his stomach in the hopes of shutting it up. " 's no big deal, though. I'll live."
Allen's head bowed even more as that same hand came ruffling his hair. He caught the hand a moment into the ruffle and pushed it gently to a side, since it was making him feel small. Like a little kid not able to buy the toy he wanted at a local store---and well, that previous pout on his face didn't help the situation much.
"I've got some money, if you want to go eat something, you know." Allen beamed, smiling. "But if we do that, we'll have to waste a night outside, sleeping," he said easily, as if it was no big deal. "Unless we get a job somewhere..."Allen really wanted a job, because the lack of money was killing him. He could easily regain the money by using tactics he used back then to pay off the bills for his master... but the people here didn't seem like gamblers. He'd be surprised if they even know what 'cards' are. Allen sighed.
"So what do you think?" he continued on, tapping his chin. "Starving yourself wouldn't help much to the situation," Allen said as he gave him a sympathetic look. "Maybe we should just go out and
( ... )
"Or you can always gamble and rob everyone blind. Cheating little munchkin," Rabi had to resist the urge to mess up Allen's hair again. Teasing him was just too much fun.
Gah. What, so he had to choose between eating or sleeping? Why couldn't he just have both? That sounded like a sweet deal to him. Rabi frowned and thought about his options, but when his stomach let out another loud growl, the boy came to his decision.
"I think food comes first," he agreed. If he absolutely had to, he wouldn't mind getting a job, either. But really, the thought of actually settling down and trying to make a living in... uh... Pie-sore... made him feel a little uncomfortable. They were supposed to be looking for a way to get out, not a way to fit in! "Whatever. We'll think of a way to make money later."
Oh, but that reminded him. How did Allen get the money he had now? Rabi perked up a bit and, without thinking, asked: "So wait. Did you have to sell something to get that money?"
