When Riku stepped out of the portal, his eyes were heavily lidded for a moment. He was glad Sora went running off ahead of him, because he had to take a moment to gain back some form of strength. He rubbed at his eyes, before standing fully upright and staring ahead. The orange was evidently there, and stayed there as he followed after Sora before he ran out of sight. He was using his powers far too much in this Paixao place, and it was starting to get taxing ( ... )

He didn't know why he had been expecting her friends to be older. Or, at least, less child-like. There was something about the brunette that screamed 'young' and not innocent (as Lucifer didn't believe in innocence) but close to it. The other one, though. The ex-devil let his gaze linger on the silver haired boy. Interesting.

Leaving seemed like a good option, as the girl had her friends and all of that. But there was the information that the children might bring (out of the mouths of babes, was it?) something like that. He didn't have anything better to do with his time, so he may as well linger.

Kairi had been lingering around Lucifer, feeling safe and protected just by his presence. It almost kept the creatures - the Nobodies - away from her. Well, them, anyway.

And when she heard an odd sound of energy she jumped and tensed, thinking it might be more Nobodies coming to attack her from behind. It wasn't very loud, or even immediately close, but she still heard it - and then she heard his voice, her mind reeled, calculated, tried to figure if it was really hearing -

Sora! She spun around, her eyes as wide as they had been when she remembered his name on the island and Selphie had been so confused... There he was... running for her, looking strange with new clothes and a bit older, but still radient with his youth. Kairi must have looked strange herself; her outfit was indeed just as different as his from way back when. ... Had it only been a year ( ... )

"Gwah!" Sora yelped as Kairi practically clotheslined him in her exuberance. Once he regained some semblance of balance, however, he smiled and wrapped his arms around Kairi. "I'm so glad you're okay, Kairi!" he said, laughing. As he hugged her, though, he noticed not only the different clothes, but that the shape of her body beneath the fabric was quite different. It was another jolting reminder that, though it had only seemed like a few days to him, a whole year had passed. He kept forgetting that.

"You're not hurt, are you?" he asked.

Riku looked genuinely surprised when he was roped in, and hesitated for a moment--long enough for Sora's balance, luckily, so he didn't seem too awkward--before he lifted up the hand that had been in his pocket, placing it to Kairi's lower back under Sora's own arm. He had his reunion with his friends, and they still accepted him after everything he had done. He felt strangely emotional, but realized that he hadn't had a need for emotion for most of the year, and this was probably the best he could have once the need came up again. His Keyblade disapeared in a swirl of black energy, moving the now-vacant hand to Kairi's arm about Sora's neck, seeming to include him as well ( ... )
