The Great GT-Four Weekend(or 32 hours of mostly waiting...)

May 10, 2015 01:32

Okay, I've been able to get a few hours of sleep so I'm fresh enough to do this. As everyone knows, I've been planning on this trip for a very long time, and Friday I made a dream of mine a reality. ( Cut for tons of photos and content )

sounds like the ball overall rolled well, no real snags or issues and since you have the Title clear I guess the only possible kink in your plans is passing the damn Envirotest emmission test.

Hope it passes with flying colors and doesn't require some sort of expensive repair to get it to pass.

Enjoy the vehicle :-)

And on top of that the Springs is exempt from emissions(they stopped testing in Jan 2007) so I can get the car registered free and clear once I get it here. The only caveat is since this car has an out of state title I have to get a VIN verification at a car dealer; I need to take the car there and pay $20 to get it done. I'll be getting insurance on it tomorrow. I could get temp tags tomorow as well, but I'm a little hesitant until after I know the car's on its way here with no delays.

On that front I took the risk to test-run the 540 early this morning. It stalled out once but seemed fine otherwise. Very strange...

Sounds exhausting! But I'm super glad for you that everything went well. DFW is known for delays due to thunderstorms this time of year. I ran into that when I was doing my multiple flights to and from Denver to DFW and Fort Sill/Lawton, OK a few years back.

absolutely thrilled that the Celica worked as well as it did when you gave it a test run. :) from the photos, it looks really clean! if only it had the ST205 brakes as well as the trans. :p ( ... )

Thanks for the info and the link! So, to clarify, your wife's swapped Camry is running a full, straight piped 3" setup like mine? The '185 has the same fuel cut level at the '165, though the turbo is different('165 is a smaller version of the MA70 CT26, '185 has the twin entry exhaust section with the dual wastegate ports). The TVSV hasn't been touched as far as I can tell so the wastegate should be opening at the lower pressures in 1st and 2nd despite the exhaust?

What size kit would you recommend if I wanted to re-do the vac lines on the '165? I'm pretty sure there's got to be a lot of dry rot to deal with' I just don't remember how many lines these engines have in the first place. I'm assuming some are very fun to get to with the engine still in the car; likely tucked underneath the intake manifold?

not a problem. :)

yes. actually, her 3 inch exhaust is for a Celica as no one makes one for an AllTrac Camry. yes, she has the factory twin entry turbo with the stock wastegate and recirc valve. there is no boost gauge, so i cannot state what PSI it hits or when the boost technically builds up.

3mm will cover the majority of the vacuum lines on the vehicle - i think there might be some slightly larger hoses, but there are not many of those and they're short from what i recall. i bought 20ft for my 3sge aw11 and i had very little left after i was done.

the power steering air hoses (shaped like J) are 4mm. 10ft would cover 3 or 4 vehicles. :)

this is the exact link for hose by the foot. again, i got 20ft.
